We’re honored to announce that Roberta Huffman is our Local Woman Farmer of the Month for October 2026! 👏
◼️ Can you share a little information about your background in agriculture?
A grain farm in Darke County, Ohio, shaped my early years and cultivated my love for growing crops. I married Aaron Huffman in 1997, and we were blessed to raise our children in this community and on the farm.
I love all kinds of fruit, especially fresh, local fruit. I missed the U-Pick strawberry farm that used to be near us. In 2014, we set aside a couple of acres and planted strawberries. Huffman Berry Farm was born.
◼️ What impact do you hope to make in your farm, business, or community?
While we hope to be good stewards and neighbors in our grain farming, I focus my time and energy on the strawberry patch. My goal is to grow the best-tasting strawberries for our community!
As a bonus, customers can enjoy sunshine, fresh air, and the satisfaction of harvesting when they visit our farm. One of the best parts of growing strawberries is seeing the joy on our customers’ faces as they carry away all the beautiful berries they’ve picked.
◼️ What does being a woman in agriculture mean to you?
Being in agriculture is a privilege and a blessing. It’s hard work, long days, and watching the weather; enjoying the fruit of our labor and co-laboring with others to bring in a harvest. It's a walk of faith in an Almighty God who provides and sustains. I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a farmer.
