New Hampshire Humane Society Helping pets & the people who love them for 126 years ❤️ On May 16, 2006 the NHHS opened its new facility to the public.

Since that time, adoption rates have increased dramatically, with an adoption rate hovering at 96%. Nationally, only 16% of people go to a shelter for their next pet. New Hampshire Humane Society has the third highest adoption rate in New England, demonstrating the quality of care and the passion our team has for this mission.

This is Dozer.

Dozer came to us as a stray, but you'd never know it from his sweet personality. He's a big, friendly loaf of bread who loves catching some Z's, lounging in our doggie pools, enjoying a snack, and meandering around campus with the nice humans who take care of him - always on his best behavior.

Today, Dozer is looking forward to showing off his biggest puppy-dog eyes during our open hours. Stop by and say hello!

🏍️ Welcome to the 103rd Laconia Motorcycle Week!

While we hope not to catch any of our kitties riding motorcycles this week, we thought we'd share a few tips as the busy week gets underway.

🛵 Watch for animals on the road. With extra traffic in and around the Lakes Region, please keep an eye out for pets and wildlife crossing the road. If you find a roaming pet without an owner, contact the police department in the town where you are located.

🥵 Keep pets cool and hydrated. Warm temperatures are in the forecast, so be sure your pets have access to plenty of fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest.

🔊 Prepare for loud noises. Motorcycles, celebrations, and fireworks can be stressful for some pets. Make sure your furry friends have a safe, comfortable place to retreat if they become anxious.

👋 Let's make this a safe and successful week for both the animals and the people of the Lakes Region. We look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far!
