Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can cause severe illness, including liver and kidney failure.

๐งIt is commonly spread through contaminated water (like puddles and floodwater) and urine from rodents such as rats, mice and other wildlife.
โ
๐งWhile cats can contract it, this is extremely rare. Dogs are the most vulnerable.
โ
๐งIt is also zoonotic, meaning it can spread to humans โ particularly risky for children, the elderly, or anyone immunocompromised.

Symptoms can be vague but may include:

โข Avoid letting pets drink from puddles or play in flood water
