Speckles

Speckles has two faces: "Mother, I crave violence" and "No thoughts, just vibes." 😂 One minute he's a perfectly calm little gentleman, and the next he's giving you this face like he's ready to challenge the vacuum cleaner to a duel.

Speckles is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix with the adorable underbite. According to his foster he answers to just about anything ending in "-ickles" — Pickles, Skittles, Snickles… Foster mom says he lives by the quote, "Actions speak louder than words, because this little Velcro pup never misses an opportunity to show you how much he loves you."

Speckles is 100% kennel trained and may protest his incarceration for a minute, but settles down nicely with a good Audible book. He's starting to come out of his shell and learn how to play with his foster sister, enjoys driveway walks and couch time, and considers piggyback rides a perfectly acceptable mode of transportation.

He does prefer private dining accommodations and should be fed separately from other dogs. And thanks to his built-in mouth shovel, he has mastered the art of tipping over his bowl and eating directly from the floor.

Underneath the dramatic facial expressions and tiny gremlin energy is the sweetest little man with so much love to give 💙

🏴‍☠️ Meet Captain Jack 🏴‍☠️

Captain Jack is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix with a face only a mother could love… and everyone else, too. With an underbite, soulful eyes, and enough personality to make up for his small size. One look at this funny little face and you'll understand why everyone who meets him falls in love.

Foster mom says, "This little guy is so odd looking he's adorable! His favorite thing in the world is being cradled like a baby and having his belly rubbed. You'll get tons of kisses for your trouble, and there is a good chance he's part rabbit because he can hop pretty high to get your attention and run pretty fast when he would rather explore or play with his brother!"

Captain Jack is improving on his leash skills and is working on house training. Just be prepared, this tiny pirate may demand to be carried when he gets tired… or lazy. ❤️

First Good Dog Academy class was a success! Dogs all did very good. Welcome Mona, Barbi, and Bunjie! They learned sit and stay tonight. Students sent home with homework and will be back next week for more commands and reinforcing the ones learned tonight!

Dorothy 🖤

Did you know that studies have found that black dogs often spend longer waiting for homes and are adopted at lower rates than lighter-colored dogs. Whether it's because they don't stand out in photos or simply get overlooked, dogs like Dorothy often wait far longer than they should.

And Dorothy has been waiting.
She may not have flashy markings or a unique coat, but what she lacks in color she makes up for in personality.

She loves other dogs, does well with kids, enjoys some farm animals, and is an absolute water dog. She does think chickens are worth chasing, but she's respectful enough to stop when told no. 😆

Dorothy has already watched her brother find his family while she continues to wait. She's become one of our longest residents, and honestly, we think it's her turn. She is 7 months old, leash, kennel and potty trained.

Please submit an application if interested in adopting Dorothy and we promise she'll absolutely steal your heart. ❤️🐾

Bunjie 🐾

Bunjie was adopted, but returned through no fault of his own when the resident dog in the home wasn't a good fit. Since coming back, he's picked up right where he left off, making friends, charming strangers, and reminding everyone why he was adopted so quickly in the first place.

At adoption events, Bunjie is an absolute professional. New people? No problem. Crowds? Bring them on. Other dogs? He generally enjoys their company and carries himself with the confidence of a dog who assumes everyone is there to meet him.

He's smart, social, and endlessly curious. In true Beagle fashion, his nose is often making decisions before his brain has a chance to weigh in. That confidence and prey drive are part of what makes him such a fun little character, but it also means cats and chickens are a hard no for Bunjie.

If you're looking for a dog with personality, confidence, and enough Beagle energy to keep life interesting, Bunjie is ready for his second chance.

While it is a little quiet I wanted to give thanks to all the people who have donated and helped with the event at the arts and craft festival.

Meet Sunny ☀️

Sunny is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who is looking for a home where he can fully embrace his favorite hobby: being attached to his people.

His foster says:

"Sunny is a sweet cuddle bug searching for a comfy lap to rest on. While he gets along perfectly well with other dogs, and will play occasionally, he prefers sitting right next to, or on top of, his humans. Sunny is also good with kids and cats. He will happily go into his crate at night when it's time for bed. It seems to be his safe space when something scary, like the vacuum, comes out. Sunny is lower energy, preferring to be coddled than walked 😆. Sunny is on the quiet side and rarely barks. While he is a full-grown adult dog, he's ready to be someone's baby 🥰."

Sunny isn't fully potty trained yet, but he likes to keep a clean crate, which is always a good sign. He is also working on leash training.

If you're looking for a constant companion who thinks personal space is overrated, Sunny might be your perfect match.
