It's been a while! I am happy to announce that we are back, with some changes. I decided to become a contractor, and now train with Off-Leash K9. 🐾🧑They are amazing and I couldn't be happier training for them. If you are interested in training with me, please reach me through them!

So I will use PawsEmpowered for my second passion. A rescue service! We will be rescuing and adopting out dogs that need second chances. πŸΆπŸ’™Stay tuned for some of our first rescues and dogs available for adoption. You won't get a better rescue dog than one rescued by trainers πŸ˜‰

Checklist is complete, so it's time for some outdoor training! Here's a peek at our first outdoor session. Jett is easily distracted and pretty reactive while outdoors. We are working on keeping his focus on his handler instead of the people outside with me. We then go to work on some recall and getting rewards for relieving tension on the leash.

Remember, setting up your foundation and expectations indoors is crucial to successful outdoor training. Don't rush the process!

This is two days of hard work for Jett and he has taken some HUGE steps! You can see the increase in confidence and willingness to work and learn. This little pup is definitely feeling empowered to stand on his own 4 paws rather than cowering in my lap all the time. We still have two more days of work and I can't wait to see him take some more big steps. Great job, Jett!

(Sorry for the video quality! Camera moved just enough to get some really bad lighting 😞)

My first session with my Holiday client, Jett. This little guy needs to build lots of confidence! We are building a relationship by working through his fearfulness together. He did well in this session and he got a nice long break afterwards. β™₯️

Tip: Overworking fearful pups will only make them apprehensive to the training, or reject it entirely. So take it slow!

It has been a wet, stormy, week, but we finally got a (very short) break in the weather on this fine Thursday. Even though we have not worked on outdoor training all week long, we have set up the expectations so well indoors, that applying them outdoors was a breeze for this little champ!

One of the biggest accomplishments for Oliver is getting off the retractable leash. He has now graduated to a 4ft loose leash!

Pro Tip: Retractable leashes do not encourage proper leash etiquette or walking manners. They are also unsafe and unreliable. If your pup is having a hard time walking on a leash, the first step is to throw away that retractable leash!

Oliver's pet parents said they want him to be better at down, holding positions, and focusing. We understood the assignment! No matter what I throw at Ollie, he's focused on his task. The cherry on top is that he loves to work and enjoys the challenge! This little guy has come so far. Good boy, Oliver!

It is a cold, rainy day outside, so we are hanging out indoors. But that doesn't mean we wont get leash-walking work done! Here is Oliver's first go at loose leash walking with 'leave it'. I have some toys, treats, and socks on the ground, in which he is instructed to "leave it". He still gets some sniffs in there, but overall, we had a successful walk, all while staying in jammies! πŸ˜‰

In just one week, Oliver has come so far! His confidence has skyrocketed, he has learned the basics, and he is even holding positions. I love seeing him light up when it's time to train, rather than shutting down because of so much uncertainty. Such a fun, spunky, little pup to work with. Good boy, Oliver!

This is Oliver. We have a lot of work to do between basic commands, house manners, potty training, separation anxiety, lowering the vocals, and lots of confidence building.

Here is one of our confidence building sessions. He used to bark and shake around the kitties, but here he is learning to touch something super scary with the terrifying furballs all around him! Good boy, Oliver!

This is a video you haven't seen yet!

Who else has a hard time keeping paws off the counters? Seamus is just about counter height so this is a struggle for him at home. The most effective way to fix this is to make the kitchen off-limits. While you can teach an "out" command, this should be an automatic behavior so only corrections and markers should be used. Even when I drop treats in the kitchen, Seamus doesn't cross his boundary. Good job Seamus!

Seamus, the 4 month old Mastiff, started his board and train this week. Definitely the opposite of the high energy aussie that just went home πŸ˜… Slow and steady for this handsome, loveable, 50lb pup!

I love having a pup with some versatile energy. We have a great time! Bellatrix is going to be an agility legend, just you wait! She has so much fun and it allows her to expell some of her crazy energy.
