Jackzen was a humane neglect case. He needs a home! He is a 1-year-old American Bully mix.

Jackzen is friendly, likes to take walks, playing fetch, and getting hugs and snuggling.

He is in a temporary foster home.

If you can give this dog the wonderful home he deserves, call Orphans of the Storm at 724-548-4520 (remind them that Jackzen is Susan Clark's foster dog.)

Officers Clark and O'Donnell attended a very informative conference this week in Pittsburgh. It was great to see other humane officers from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh and Animal Friends. It was wonderful to also spend time with Dr. Becky Morrow of Frankie's Friends Humane. We hit the road in a few minutes to try to catch up on calls!

Come and meet the famous Ray Ray! Besides lots of fun, we will be presenting him with the Courageous Cat award -- the first time ever awarded!

Armstrong County's Ray Ray to receive Courageous Cat Award

Courageous feline to be recognized locally on Nov. 12; deadlines for related contest entries is on that date

By KIERAN WOYNICZ

Staff Reporter

After an amazing adventure, the travels of Ray Ray have the traveling cat set to be awarded the Courageous Cat Award.

Ray Ray, the feline pet of Armstrong County’s Mara Denardo and family, was discovered on the roof of the family’s vehicle during their long multi-state vacation drive.

After being taken into the vehicle safe and sound, Ray Ray would join the family on their journey — crossing a finish line of a marathon in New Hampshire, witnessing the Big Apple and seeing even more sights on the journey.

“They loved seeming him cross the finish line of a marathon in New Hampshire and travel to all the big sights in New York City,” Mara Denardo said.

As a result of Ray Ray’s big adventure, county Humane Police Officer Chris Jirak O’Donnell soon will present to the feline with fortitude a Courageous Cat Award to bring some positive light, fun and a feel-good time to those around.

Denardo said she’d would like to take this opportunity to bring extra awareness to the local humane society, to stress the need for cat owners to spay and neuter their pets, and to raise money for Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) specifically.

The award ceremony will be from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at The Building, located at 105 S. McKean St., Kittanning.

STILL NEEDS A HOME ... NO ONE INTERESTED!

Silver's person died and she needs a new home to live our her Golden Years.

Silver is an older gal needing a place to go.

Her beloved person passed away, and she now finds herself looking for someone else who might love her in her Golden Years.

Silver is a regal, beautiful, 12-year-old silver Lab -- a real lady who would make a great dog for just about anyone. She is housetrained and great with people and kids. This gal still has lots of energy and love to give.

Silver has seen a vet and has no health issues. A trainer evaluated her temperament, and it was largely positive. When she met other dogs, she was, at first, a little scared. She growled at one, but settled in well with the other dogs. If Silver's new person feels she needs some work, several training sessions will be covered by one of Silver's friends.

If you are interested in meeting this great dog, call her current foster, Marilyn, at 412-443-2974.

And please share this email to help Silver find a place to lay her head, and love in her Golden Years!https://conta.cc/4oFfUyJ

Thank you to Chris Alamad, manager for the Kittanning Tractor Supply, for inviting us to join them today in honoring our military, veterans and first responders. It was great talking to the staff, customers and meeting many nice dogs, including this one who was suspicious of our stuffed Charlotte (Cuddle Clone).

We met this charming pair on a humane call yesterday. Both are looking for homes. Whiskey is a mild-mannered, 1-year-old pit mix, housebroken, likes riding in cars, kids, dogs, and (obviously) cats. Kitten is a male and has a twin, both were born in April. They will be spayed/ neutered, receive shots, and available for adoption. If interested email [email protected]

I'm sorry I haven't been active in posting for the past few weeks. Officer Clark and I have been getting calls nonstop. But here are two new friends we made this week!

WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED FOR AN OUTSIDE KENNEL FOR AN ELDERLY WOMAN WHO IS STRUGGLING TO CARE FOR HER DOGS.

We hope to find one so we can attach it to her back door so she can let her dogs out safely.

If you have one you would like to donate, please email me at [email protected]

Thank you!
