🎉 WE DON’T KNOW YOU LIKE THAT! 🎉

Another thing we think is important to educate about: Sometimes guests comment that they can do certain things with their cats at home, like picking them up or kissing their faces. And that is wonderful! That means you have developed a trusting relationship with your kitty, and they are comfortable with you doing those things. But these cats are NOT YOUR CAT. They don’t know you like that, and they aren’t always happy to be handled in the same way you would handle your own cats. So, if a lounge kitty is moving away from you or laying its ears back, those are not signals to scoop them up or keep moving towards them.

These are rescue cats who have been through difficult events in their tiny lives and often need time and patience before trusting humans enough to be handled like you might handle your cat at home.

If you have any questions about how to interact with the kitties in our lounge, please don’t hesitate to ask staff or volunteers while here. We would love to help you socialize with the kitties! ❤️

We just loved Picasso! He was with us at the café for a while, but unfortunately, he was too cat selective for this environment. But we just know his furever home is out there. And like Haylee mentioned, he has been diagnosed with HCM, which is a heart condition that doesn’t currently require any medication at this stage for him, but it will require monitoring and vet care in the future. So please consider him if you are able to help and want to learn just how special it is to be loved by a special-needs cat. 

More than 120 days in shelter. Is it because he’s vision impaired?? 😔 Reach out to Petworks Animal Services in Kingsport, TN to meet this sweet boy.

📣 We Don’t SELL Cats! 📣

We know most of our content here is cute and funny, but sometimes we want to share important, serious things. We’ve gotten comments and questions about the adoption process for our lounge cats, so we wanted to clarify a few things.

We work with three different shelters and rescues and they all have slightly different application processes, but one thing remains the same: the goal is to find the right home for each cat. These are living, breathing creatures, and we owe them our best efforts to help them have a long and happy life in a safe and loving environment. Sometimes that means a particular cat is not the right fit for a home, and that is no one’s fault. It is not to say anything negative about anyone. All it means is that particular cat needs a different home for various reasons. This goal also usually means that you cannot bring a cat home the same day you apply to adopt. There are exceptions, but they are rare. You’re making a life-long commitment (sometimes more than 20 years), so waiting a few days for a decision is perfectly reasonable.

Another thing we want to make sure is clear: no one is entitled to a cat. You APPLY for the chance to adopt. You do not purchase a cat as a matter of right. If you believe you should be able to do so, then you will need to look elsewhere. These little lives are just too precious to give them anything but our best efforts to find them the right home.

And now…back to our regularly scheduled programming of cute cats. 😻
