I have been asked a lot about socializing a dog like when to do it, how to do it, why do we need to do it! There’s so many answers to those questions!

Socialization is one of the greatest gifts you can give your dog! From meeting new people and other pups to exploring different environments, positive experiences help build confidence and reduce stress and anxiety.
A well-socialized dog is happier, calmer, and better prepared for everyday adventures. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a pet-friendly café visit, or a supervised playdate, every experience matters!

Remember, socialization should always be SAFE, POSITIVE, and done at your dog’s pace. Small steps create MAJOR confidence not only in your dog but also in the handler!

Everybody welcome K9 Ollie! Ollie is a 10+ month old Australian shepherd mix who was adopted from a rescue here in the Tri-Cities!

He’s a fun loving and full of excitement pup and most of that excitement makes him knock people over! But we can’t have that in households with small children around so he will be going through our Basic OB course and we are going to tap in a few behavior sessions as well!! Let’s give Ollie and his handler a round of applause and wish them luck on this new journey!!

Here is K9 Oakley, the very smart and fun loving deaf Dalmatian!!

Oakley has been having trouble pulling on the leash so our first live training session was directed towards leash manners and after some time teaching him to focus on his handler (you can see the handler pay him each time Oakley looks her way) the pulling has stopped!! Now all we need to do is keep the progress flowing forward and polish up that “heel” position!

More training to follow for confidence and off leash recall!

Meet K9 River!!

River is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd! Isn’t she gorgeous!!

River is with us because she has a history of trauma and is lacking confidence when she’s out and about with her handler in public spaces and new environments.

We are starting with desensitization and counter conditioning to hopefully ease Rivers mind when out in areas that trigger her fight or flight response, let’s wish her and her handler an easy, educated and fun filled journey on the road to healing!

I know everybody remembers sweet and adorable little Winston who started puppy training with us weeks ago! Well these two puppies (front and back) are his brothers from the same litter but they are with a different family!!

Let’s Welcome Fritz (front) and Tucker (back) to our Sit-Happens K9 family and wish them luck on their training! There older sister just wanted to be included in the photo too!!

K9 Cooper is back!!

This was after 15 minutes of leash manner training and look at him go!! Next step is getting it a little better polished and then transferring these new skills to his handler!

A closer look from my point of view will be on the story for all to see!

As promised here is K9 Cooper before any type of leash manner training! As you can see he is pulling a lot and not paying any attention to his handler and as a bulky fella that’s not what we want! We can fix that!!

One of the best things about being a dog trainer is the success stories AND even small to large progress stories!!

As many of you may know K9 Roman is part of our Sit-Happens K9 Family and has been for a while now but he hasn’t been able to start training with us until last week.

Myself and his owner have been communicating back and forth for questions over training techniques and more throughout the time before his training started. Between all this Roman started having issues jumping up on ppl and using his weight against you when he got excited or happy, so me and the owner decided to work on that in our first session as well as some simple OB.

NOW LISTEN UP!! After only one session and one week of the handlers doing their homework with him we have received a positive progress report!! They are seeing so much progress in K9 Romans jumping and bumping issue!

It just goes to show that doing your homework between sessions 100% pays off!! Keep up the great work!

Everybody meet K9 Cooper! Cooper is a golden-doodle and 6+ years of age!! He’s a super smart dog other than pulling his parents around on the leash!!

We are starting our journey to end the pulling tomorrow! Wish him luck! Videos will also be posted of K9 Coopers beginning and end process!
