I have delayed posting this, not for lack of absolute respect for the people it involves but for the sheer fact that when we put things into the world, either verbally or written, they become tangible and real. Some things we don’t want to be real, and yet they are.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our friend and receptionist Renee’s husband, Mel. Mel was a giver, spanning from a childhood working in fields harvesting crops during the summer for his family, thru his time served in the United States Navy as a Submariner, to volunteering his time and services to those who needed him.
Mel fed us all, allowing us to be his taste testers as he perfected his sourdough bread recipe; weekly he would cook up large containers of stew, fried rice, glass noodles, chicken dynamite or whatever meal suited his fancy. He catered our Christmas dinners, waiting to eat so he could watch everyone enjoy the food he lovingly prepared. He would stand there smiling, taking in how much his gift meant to us. Mel even took the time to learn gluten free cooking, for those of us who cannot have gluten products. Mel was a blessing to us all, and he will be painfully missed.
To those clients who have shown extreme patience over the last few weeks as we juggled work schedules to allow Renee the time needed to be with Mel and employees time to be with Mel and Renee, thank you. Your patience grace, kindness and compassion is beyond appreciated. It has allowed us to focus on our clinic family, and to process thru the emotional pendulum that comes with having a critically ill loved one, and now the process of learning a new existence without them. We appreciate your continued patience as we support Renee during this time.
Thank you, and may God bless you.
