KC Pet Project - Lost & Found

KC Pet Project - Lost & Found www.kcpetproject.org KC Pet Project receives 40-50 new animals every day. KC Pet Project is required to hold any found animal for five days.

KC Pet Project is leading the way in creating a compassionate, safe community for pets and people in Kansas City, Missouri, through progressive lifesaving programs and services, community resources, and educational opportunities. As we continue to experience a record high number of lost pets brought to the shelter, our goal is to reunite pets with their families as quickly as possible to free up k

ennel space for truly homeless animals. If you have lost a pet, please visit the KC Campus for Animal Care located at 7077 Elmwood Avenue KCMO 64132 as soon as possible. As the owner, you are the best person to identify your own pet, therefore we cannot tell you whether your pet is here over the phone or by email. After this five day holding period the animal will be made available for adoption, transferred to rescue or foster, or, in rare cases, euthanized (only if serious medical issues exist or there are issues of aggression). DO YOU KNOW ME??
Ref: A58739687

Senior male Boxer found at 55th and Park.

This dog is currently undergoing medical treatment in our clinic. While the dog is visually emaciated, he seems to have had a family that was taking care of him. We believe his appearance could be due to medical condition. If you have any information on who this sweet boy may belong to, please contact us at 816-683-1383.

*REMINDER!*
We never know how an animal comes to be in the condition they are in when they find their way to us. Animals can become lost for long periods and be without sufficient care as a result. OR could be suffering from a medical condition that can impact their appearance. The focus of this page is not to pass judgment but to, hopefully, reunite a pet that has been missing from their family.

PLEASE SHARE AND HELP GET THIS DOG HOME.

This dog has a family somewhere that has taken great care of him, yet no one has come looking for him. He appears to be a very healthy, loved, and well socialized dog who would really like to go back home. He arrived at the shelter wearing the blue collar with handle that is pictured. The dog came in with 2 microchips that tie back to an animal shelter and a rescue in Nevada. One of the microchips lists the dogs name as "Spike" and the other one lists the dogs name as "Golden Boy".

Please let us know if you have any info on this sweet man or his family!

PLEASE SHARE AND HELP GET THIS DOG HOME.

This dog has a family somewhere that has taken great care of him. He appears to be a very healthy, loved, and well socialized dog who would really like to go back home. This dog came in wearing a collar with a 2010 city license (we have only aged the dog at 4-5 years so the tags do not belong to this dog), an unreadable rabies tag, and a microchip.

If you have any information on this sweet man or his family, please contact us!!

Our Story

HOW TO SEARCH FOR A LOST PET: First and foremost, visit KC Pet Project when looking for a lost pet in or near Kansas City, MO. KC Pet Project's shelter is located at 7077 Elmwood, Kansas City, MO 64132, across from Lakeside Nature Center in Swope Park. We are the intake shelter for ALL of Kansas City, MO, both north and south of the river. Any pet found within Kansas City, MO city limits could be brought to our shelter -- including pets that have wandered from adjoining cities such as Gladstone, Independence, Overland Park, Kansas City KS, Raytown and Grandview. Our shelter receives animals every day and one of them could be your pet. We hold stray animals for 5 days to give owners time to find their lost pet. As the owner you are the best person to identify your pet so please come to the shelter to identify any pet you think may be yours. If you visit our shelter and do not locate your pet, please complete a lost pet report while you are here so we can keep an eye out for your pet. Please also provide a picture of your pet (especially important for cats!!) Visit the shelter or lost/found page several times weekly on staggered days for the best results in finding your pet. If your pet is lost after hours, you may fill out a lost pet report online at: http://kcpetproject.org/lost-pets/ It is important, however, that you visit the shelter to search for your pet in person because your description of the animal may not match how animal control or shelter staff would describe your animal. This is especially true when determining what breed an animal is. In addition to searching the shelter, here are other steps that may help you locate your lost pet: - Post flyers in your neighborhood - Notify area veterinarians and your personal veterinarian of losing your pet - Notify the microchip company to alert them about your last pet, if chipped. - Check Craig's list for "found" pets -- someone may have found your pet and not taken it to a shelter - Post a "Lost Dog" message on your page, make it public, and ask people to "share" - Check https://www.lostpetregistrykc.net/. Search found reports and place a lost report. - Check https://www.pawboost.com. Search found reports and place a lost report. - Visit other area animal shelters and post lost pet notices; - Check local newspapers for "found" pet advertisements; place a lost pet ad (which is sometimes free of charge) - Don't give up hope; we have reunited pets months, even years, after they went missing.
