Meet Apoleia! ❤ Apoleia is a beautiful 6 year old white female cat who loves people. She is not a fan of other cats or dogs unless they leave her alone and has lived with other cats previously but gets overstimulated easily by them. She would love a lower energy home where she can get all of the love. While she does not like being picked up, she LOVES to cuddle as much as you'll let her. She’ll sit on your lap all day and will groom you if you scratch her in the right spots. This comically unathletic girl enjoys the soft life although she is harness trained and enjoys short strolls out of the house on her leash. She's quite the character.

Meet Penny! 💛

Penny is a 5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix with a gentle heart and a whole lot of love to give — once you’re “her person.” She’s shy and slow to warm up at first, but once she trusts you, your lap becomes her favorite place in the world.

She’s wonderful on a harness and leash and truly enjoys going for walks. While she’s a cuddler at heart, her terrier side comes out in playtime, and she loves her toys. Penny didn’t grow up with other pets, but after a brief adjustment period, she’s now happily playing with two small dogs — showing she could do well in a home with other small, friendly pups.

Penny can be anxious when left alone, so a home where someone works from home or can check in during the day would be ideal. She’s looking for a patient, loving home that understands that the best kind of bond is one you earn — and once you do, Penny’s loyalty and affection are truly special.

He’s a loving, joyful kitten who wants both fun and connection. He will be available after his neuter surgery 2/3.

These sweet black kitties—Yakko, Wakko and Dot—have quietly grown up right before our eyes. 🖤
They came to us shy, unsure, and needing time… and we gave them exactly that. In the safety of foster care, they learned that hands bring gentle pets, voices bring kindness, and love can be trusted.
They may not rush to the front of the room, but once they choose you, it’s something truly special. A soft look. A tentative head bump. A brave little step closer. These are the moments that remind us why we do this.
Black cats are so often overlooked, and shy ones even more so—but these three are purrfect in their own quiet way. They deserve homes that will let them bloom at their own pace and love them for exactly who they are.

Mia is safe in her foster home tonight recovering from knee surgery. She is a 5 year old happy girl who was found as a stray and had somehow managed to keep herself and her 2 babies alive. Fast forward to now where this active girl tore her ACL and had to undergo TPLO surgery yesterday. This will cost the rescue $2000-$3000 but Mia deserves a future without pain and arthritis and we knew we needed to get this fixed for her.

We're gearing up for Project Pet Warmth! ❄️🐾

The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City is co-hosting the 5th annual Project Pet Warmth event Sunday, January 18th from 9am to 11am. Partnering with KC Pet Project , Heart of America Humane Society , Great Plains SPCA , The Rescue Project , HealKC, Wayside Waifs , and Kansas City Animal Services Division; we are providing FREE supplies and resources to pets in our community to keep warm and safe during the winter months.

We'll be distributing dog houses, kennels, straw, blankets, food, coats, and more while supplies last at this drive-thru event at the Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center!

Meet Mia 💛 A Resilient, Playful, Loving Companion!

Mia is a 2-year-old, 30-lb sweetheart who’s come a long way since she was found on the streets of KCK. With lots of love, patience and professional training, she’s blossomed into a confident, affectionate pup who’s ready for her forever home.

Mia loves being a ride-along buddy—she enjoys running errands, exploring home improvement stores and meeting new people (especially those with treats!). She’s gentle when taking snacks from her foster and friendly strangers, and her social confidence is growing every day.

Mia is leash-trained and has been working with professional trainers for the past 6 months to build her confidence and reduce fear-based reactions. She’s made amazing progress and knows several commands, including sit, wait, with me, come, kennel, and is currently learning leave it. She’s crate-trained and happily settles in with a peanut butter Kong.

At home, Mia is a great balance of playful and calm. She loves romping in the yard, playing chase or wrestling with her foster sister, and showing off her epic zoomies before curling up in a cozy spot for a nap.

Because of her background, Mia can be protective of her resources around other dogs, but is making steady progress. She would thrive as an only dog or with a larger, calm, playful canine companion. She’s not a fit for homes with cats or young children.

Mia can jump a short fence, so she’ll need a home with a tall, secure privacy fence or an adopter committed to leash-walking her for potty breaks.

Mia has a big heart and is ready to share it with the right person or family. If you're looking for a loyal, smart, affectionate dog who’s already put in the work to become her best self—Mia might just be the one!

This 4 year old girl is the definition of sustainability—she’s self-entertaining, self-exercising, and full of personality. One moment, she’s hitting max speed in a zoomie frenzy, and the next, she’s curled up for a cozy couch nap. She’s a low-maintenance, high-reward kind of gal with a comedic streak that will keep you smiling.

She is around 50lbs and LOVES squishmallows. June Bug has spent most of her life waiting for her forever family, which is heartbreaking because she has SO much love to give. She thrives in a quiet home with patient humans who will let her set the pace when building trust. The key to her heart? Treats, space, and a little time. Once she decides you’re her person, she LOVES you wholeheartedly. Think of her like a person who prefers a handshake over a hug—once she’s comfortable, she’s all in.

She would do best as the only pet, but experienced dog owners open to structured introductions may be considered. Crate-and-rotate setups work great for her, and she has been receiving training through The Pet Connection. They can provide amazing support to ensure a smooth transition. No cats or young children for her.
