🚨 Don’t Wait! Prepare NOW for the 4th of July! 🚨

Fireworks can be terrifying for most pets. Every year, shelters see a spike in lost animals around the holiday. Help keep your furry family members as safe and calm as possible.

🏠 Boarding Your Pets?
If your pet will be staying elsewhere, make sure their records are ready. Email us at [email protected] ASAP to request them.

💊 Anxiety Medication?
If your pet needs calming meds during fireworks season, come in IMMEDIATELY for a refill. Don't wait until it's too late.

🐾 ID Tags & Microchips Matter!
Make sure your pet is always wearing a collar with updated ID tags and that their microchip info is current. At minimum, clip their rabies tag to their collar before the festivities begin.

Thanks to a donation from Children’s Mercy of supplies from the NICU, we got to dress up a few pups visiting for spay/neuter in the tiniest beanies and blankets! It doesn't get much cuter than this! 🥰

Proof that kindness still exists! Read this!

When Miss Maria (4th photo) was hospitalized after a stroke, her first concern was her beloved dogs, Thunder and Bichetta. With no family to help, they are her everything. As one of our longest outreach clients, she called us for help as we’ve grown to know and love them all over the years.

At first, our team visited her home to care for them but when her hospital stay extended, we knew they needed something more stable. That's when we reached out to our amazing friends at Woof's Play & Stay - Merriam who agreed to board Thunder and Bichetta completely free of charge. We cannot thank them enough for their kindness, and when we called Maria to tell her the good news she told us she could finally rest and focus on getting better.

'Keeping Pets and People Together' is about more than just affordable services, it’s about standing by people when they need us most. 💙

Want to Help 150+ Pets in Just One Day?!

Love puppy and kitten snuggles? Kisses from slobbery St. Bernard's and sweet purrs from friendly felines? We’ve got the perfect way for you to help pets and get your cuddle fix, volunteer at one of our upcoming Drive-Thru Vaccination Clinics!

These events bring affordable, essential vaccinations to 150+ pets in just a few hours, and they’re growing fast! As demand increases, we need more volunteers to keep up. Without enough helping hands, we risk having to turn pet owners away.

There’s a role for everyone! Volunteer tasks include:
🚗 Directing traffic
📝 Providing customer service
📦 Giving out pet food and supplies
💉 Pulling up vaccinations
🐶 Escorting pets to and from vehicles
…and more!

Whether you're a people person, a dog wrangler, or just eager to help, we'd love to have you on our team!

☀️ Extreme Heat Alert: Keep Pets Safe This Weekend! ☀️

With high temperatures expected this weekend, we’re urging all pet owners to keep pets indoors as much as possible. Also, a reminder that a dog house is NOT shade. Without proper ventilation, it can actually trap heat and become hotter than the outdoors putting your dog at serious risk for heatstroke.

Please:
✅ Bring pets inside after potty breaks
✅ Only take short walks early in the morning or late in the evening
✅ Keep fresh, cool water available at all times

If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them. Let’s keep our furry friends safe and cool. 💛

From Crusty to Cute! Check Out Steven's Transformation!

Steven came to our urgent care from our friends at KCK Animal Services suffering from an upper respiratory infection, an injury to his eye, and covered in fleas and parasites. He stayed with us for four days so that we could give him around the clock care including eye drops EVERY hour!

By day four his eye was already looking so much better so it was off to a foster home for Steven while he fully recovered. The last two photos are from when he came in for his recheck last week and we can hardly believe he’s the same kitten! We’ve all fallen in love with him, and we know his forever family will too. 💙

Spirit’s journey has been nothing short of miraculous. At seven years old, this beautiful husky came to us in critical condition, suffering from a life-threatening uterine infection called pyometra. She was so weak that our team had to keep her on IV fluids for a full day before she was strong enough for surgery. Once she was stable, we performed the emergency procedure to remove her uterus, but her fight wasn’t over yet. Just days later, Spirit returned when a large mammary tumor, another complication of not being spayed, ruptured and required urgent removal. Our outreach team made six separate trips in total to transport her back and forth for care because her owner had no way to get her here.

Thanks to our team’s skill and compassion, Spirit is now healing from two major surgeries. The photos show just how far she’s come: from struggling with a massive tumor to finally on the road to recovery. This kind of care is only possible because of donors like you. Your gift today helps us provide life-saving treatment to pets like Spirit, whose families are doing the best they can but need a little extra support.
