🌟 Heroic Dixie to the Rescue! 🌟

While out for a walk with her family, Dixie, one of our patients here at VCA County West, found herself intrigued by a pothole near the road. Her owner’s first instinct was to pull her away, but Dixie wasn’t having it—she was determined to bring her owner over to the spot.

What was so special about this pothole, Dixie? 🤔

Turns out, it was an orphaned fawn, abandoned and alone in the hole. 😢 Her owner was amazed by the discovery, but knew they needed help to rescue the innocent little one.

Did you know? 🦌 Mother deer often leave their fawns alone for hours while they forage. If you ever find a fawn that seems abandoned, give it time and space—Mom might just be nearby. But if hours pass and there's no sign of the mother, it’s important to call a local wildlife rescue for help!

Thanks to Dixie’s persistence, her owner reached out to the local wildlife rescue team, who were able to safely assist the fawn. 🦸‍♀️

Let’s all give a HUGE shout-out to Dixie for being the ultimate wildlife rescuer! We’re so proud of you, Dixie! 🎉
