🚨 PET HEAT WARNING! 🚨

As temperatures soar, our furry friends are at high risk for heatstroke and burned paws. Keep your dogs safe with these simple tips:

🐾 The 5-Second Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Walk them on grass or wait until the evening.

🚗 Never Park Your Pet: Even on a mild day with the windows cracked, parked cars act like an oven. Temperatures can spike to dangerous levels in minutes.

💧 Hydration Station: Always provide access to fresh, cool water and shade.

🥵 Know the Signs: Heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, and bright red gums are signs of heatstroke.

Heartworm... It can never happen to MY dog right? WRONG! Heartworm is a parasitic infection of worms that can infest the blood vessels, causing lethargy, breathing issues, and even sudden death.

Heartworm is transmitted when a mosquito bites a pet, depositing the heartworm larva into a pet, where it grows and reproduces, creating microfilaria. A mosquito bites an infected dog and the microfilaria in the blood stream are transmitted to the mosquito where they mature into larva to infect the next pet! It can take 6 months from infection for a pet to actually show a positive test.

Protect your pet by minimizing outdoor time at night when mosquitos are most active, or by using a preventative like Advantix that helps protect against mosquitoes, or keeping your pet on a heartworm preventative like Advantage Multi, Revolution, Simparica Trio, or Heartgard!

Get your pets tested for heartworm annually to be safe! Heartworm can be fatal or very expensive to treat, so stay ahead of the game and stop an infection before it starts!

Vaccinating for rabies is not only protecting your pet, but it also is protecting yourself, your family, and your community. Rabies vaccination is not just recommended; it is actually the law. Rabies is a serious, fatal disease and should not be taken lightly.
If your pet may have had exposure to bats, contact your local animal control to discuss measures to protect both your fuzzy and human family!
