Many people want to feed their pets raw food because it feels like it's more natural, or other personal reasons, BUT did you know that could expose your pets to a lot of risk? We shouldn't feed our pets raw food for the same reason we humans shouldn't. There is a higher risk of infection from parasites like tapeworms, bacterial infections, or even viruses.
There have been cases of avian influenza attributed to the consumption of raw meat, including store bought products.
Keep you and your pet safe. Cook that chicken before you feed it to help protect against preventable illness.

It’s National Veterinary Receptionist Week! 🎉
AKA the people who: 📞 Answer 47 calls at once
🐾 Know every pet by name (and most of the humans too)
💻 Somehow keep the schedule from total chaos
💙 And still greet you with a smile
We’re pretty sure they run the entire hospital… we just work here 😆
Give them a shoutout this week—they deserve it!

Are your older pets stiff and sore? Do they struggle to get up in the mornings? Are you noticing less jumping and running to play than when they were younger?

These could be signs of arthritis. There sre many options to help your pet's mobility, including supplements, injections, or other medications.

Have your pet checked out, and see if we can help them feel more themselves!

If your kitty is straining to urinate, it could be an emergency!
Male cats especially have a higher risk of urinary blockage, and things can turn into an emergency very quickly.
If your cat is straining or struggling to use the litter box, bring your pet for a visit immediately. These issues can turn life threatening extremely fast, so don't wait!

If your cat is blocked, it may need a urinary catheter to allow for appropriate urination while it heals. Sometimes surgeries may even be needed to help, and the longer urinary issues go on, the higher the risk of major kidney issues as well!

Don't wait on straining cats! Bring them in quickly!

Retractable leashes are common. Many people love them, because they feel like they are giving their dogs a little extra leash freedom, but that also comes with a lot more risk for both you and your dogs.

A major risk is control of your pet. They are more likely to invade the personal space of other people and pets before you realize. This can lead to dog fights with major injuries.

Another worry is that these leashes can get tangled around things, and even cut into your pet or your hand if pulled hard, due to the thin rope. And if that leash snaps, it can whip back into you, including into your face or eye, causing severe injuries.

Skittish dogs also may be frightened by that large handle if it falls, causing them to panic and run away from it.

You have much less control and safety with retractable leashes. A standard leash is a much better and safer choice to prevent injury to you and your dogs. Next time you are purchasing a leash, please consider one that doesn't retract, for the safety of you, your pet, and those around you.
