Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation

Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation We are a non-profit no kill animal shelter for cats in Riverside, CA In 1972, Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation was founded by Hettie L. Perry (1905-1996).

Hettie -- affectionately known as The Cat Lady of Pasadena -- and her very patient husband, fed, nursed, groomed and cared for cats in their private home. Hettie's life was filled with love for helping unwanted homeless cats. Hettie named Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation after a cat named "Room 8" that she had read about who was the mascot at a Los Angeles county elementary school for 16 years. The

current shelter in Jurupa Valley, California was built by Hettie in the mid-1980’s and continues her vision of taking in, caring for, and providing and finding cats of all ages a place to feel loved and safe. Our no-cage environment provides a safe and caring home for approximately 85 cats awaiting adoption, as well as lifetime care for those who cannot be placed, including senior cats who will live out their lives in a comfortable setting. Our cattery is divided into eight separate rooms and each room has an attached outdoor, enclosed patio area where the cats can get fresh air and lounge in the sun on benches and other furniture. We are open by appointment only. Adoption procedures include completing an application and, if approved, paying an adoption fee for each cat or kitten.

This young lady is Duchess. She’s a 1 year old calico Persian. She came in with microphthalmic eye. The eye has since been removed and she is ready for adoption. She’s a sweet loving girl. Obviously, chill, but still very playful. If you’d like to meet her send us a pm. She is fully vetted….meaning spayed, microchipped, FVRCP (2 times), RABIES, FIV/FELV tested (negative/negative), dewormed and flea treated. Her adoption fee is $500.

Meet Tux! He is being fostered in Jurupa Valley, CA through Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation
Tux was part of a TNR’d group of kitties that were abandoned on a property. The trapper/foster mom noticed how friendly he was and decided to try to find him a forever home instead of releasing him to fend for himself.
Tux’s approximate dob is 5-27-2024.
Tux has been enjoying the indoor life at his foster mom’s home. He uses the litter box faithfully and enjoys the other friendly kitties through a screened off room. You can tell he wants to get to know them better.
So far, he's been calm and plays gently. He enjoys the catnip mice and other small toys/balls that he can either carry or bat around. Tux enjoys perching on his kitty tower by the window and has not tried to escape back outside.
Tux will flop down when his foster mom greets him. He will then follow her around and has even started getting in her lap for more loving!! Tux also LOVES to be brushed!
It’s unknown whether he has been around children or dogs. A calm home may be best for him. He’s getting much better at being held but would prefer to worship you at your feet! He responds well to patience and wants to be loved!
He really wants a forever home where he can roam around the house and play with other friendly kitties!
Tux’s adoption fee is $50. He is fully vetted meaning: neutered, microchipped, vaccinated FVRCP (x2) & RABIES, FIV/FELV tested (negative/negative), dewormed and flea treated. His adoption fee is greatly reduced.
If you’d like to meet this cutie, send Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation a PM so we can set up an appointment.

Sigh…apparently if you discuss how dangerous street rescues are while in the car it might manifest a kitten in the street in front of you. This little lady fell from the engine of the car turning left onto a busy street. It was a scramble to get her, but fortunately she was secured and uninjured (that’s a plus). Her name is Rhodie (Roady). She’s little over 5 week based on eye color, but she’s not weaned so she’s being syringe fed. Gail says we need a GoPro to record the insanity. 🤦🏼‍♀️❤️🐱

Meet Limon 💛

If you’ve followed our rescue efforts, you might remember Limon, the little guy found crouched in the gutter on Limonite Ave in Jurupa Valley, terrified of the cars speeding by. After a tense chase and some frantic hiding in the bushes, I was finally able to scoop up his grumpy (but adorable) self and get him to safety.

Not knowing exactly what to do next, but already en route to the vet, he came along and it’s a good thing he did.

Limon has been in socalanimalhospital_ ever since. X-rays revealed he has brachial plexus avulsion, a severe form of nerve damage. While some feeling can return in mild cases, his condition is severe and sadly, he still has no function in the limb. That brings us to today: Limon needs an amputation to live a pain-free, mobile, happy life.

We’ve included the surgical estimate and a video (in the comments) showing his current condition.

It’s been an incredibly tough kitten season. While we know we can’t save them all, it’s nearly impossible to turn away from the ones suffering right in front of you, like Limon.

If you’d like to help this sweet boy, here’s how you can donate directly toward his surgery:

📞 SoCal Animal Hospital: (951) 729-6255 (donate directly)
💸 Zelle: (951) 681-9609
🌐 PayPal: room8cats.org

100% of donations will go directly to Limon’s medical care.

As you’ll see in the video, he’s already come such a long way and he's turned into the sweetest, most affectionate little guy. Once he’s healed, he’ll be ready for a forever home. Thank you for caring. 💛

Urgent Help Needed – 7 Orphaned Kittens

Late Friday night, 8 tiny kittens, just two weeks old, were abandoned on our property. We didn’t find them until early the next morning, and tragically, the smallest had already passed.

Please understand: this isn’t “lucky.” It’s heartbreaking. Rescues like ours are already stretched thin, and we do not have enough dedicated bottle feeders. While we are doing everything we can to care for the 7 survivors, we cannot do it alone.

We urgently need your support. The best way to help is by donating supplies like kitten formula, food, or small shelters. Every little bit truly makes a difference in helping us give these babies a fighting chance.

If you can help, please order from our Amazon wishlist or if you bargain shop Walmart ships for free over a certain amount or donate via Zelle or PayPal. Thank you for standing with us when these animals need it most.
