Today is National Black Dog Day!!

National Black Dog Day was created to encourage the adoption of black dogs from shelters and rescues. Due to factors like negative stereotypes and poor visability in online photos, black dogs have lower adoption rates than other dogs.

We have many black dogs that attend daycare at Hounds Hideaway and we love each and every one of them!!

Head Human Lacey finished her Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional Certification today!

No, she’s not going to work at Conway’s vet next door 😂, but we ARE working hard to develop a supremely high end cat sleepover experience at the new east Conway location, and understanding cats’ health concerns is a huge part of that!

We’re building totally custom cat runs with climbing apparatuses and hidey-holes, as well as a spectacular outdoor CATIO where cats can make their best plans for world domination….while not actually have access to said world 😂.

Cats can expect a quiet space in the farthest area away from the dogs, and a separate entrance for those who may feel scared in a noisy lobby. We’re also working on education for YOU to help them feel at ease before they even check in, and more staff education/certification to help us make sure they have a happy, healthy stay.

Construction over there is in full swing and current projected opening date is 12/12 (which is also west HH’s tenth birthday 🥹🥹)!

Guess what guess what - we now offer TRAINING in our Jonesboro location! 🤩🤓

There is no one better to teach your dogs a few new tricks than our own “Coach T” - !! Tyler has been working hard for the last year to help develop his skills as a trainer, and has helped create a program that we are very proud of.

Tyler is no stranger to training - he has an exercise science degree from AState and has spent countless hours in the gym teaching humans to be their best…and we finally wore him down and won that whole “but aren’t dogs way better” argument 😉😉.

We are so excited to see how fast and how confidently your dogs learn in an environment where they are already comfortable, and a huge part of our philosophy includes using play as a tool for teaching and rewards.

We’ve put together some intro packages and are offering discounts while Tyler works to complete his CPDT certification - link in bio to learn more!

Everyone give Mr. Leo a big WOO WOO for entering the 500 daycare days club! This handsome sassy guy joined the HH family back in 2019! He can be found in our littles group hanging with the youngsters or up front being head of our AARP senior club! He loves folding up like the cutest pretzel and loves making sure everyone knows he is here! The waterhose is his best friend AND his worst enemy! We love you sweet guy and so happy we’ve had 500 opportunities to give you all our love! 💕🥨🐾

Our very first Pet Parent Bingo Night was such a success! 🎉 Between the fun prizes, lots of laughs, and all the sweet dogs by our side, it was truly a night to remember. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped us raise money for new equipment at The Hollow in our East Conway location! This will definitely not be the last night of Bingo and fun! 🐶🐾

🐾 Breed Spotlight: Great Pyrenees🦴
Meet the Great Pyrenees — the gentle giant with a heart as big as their fluffy coat! ❄️ These majestic pups were bred to guard flocks in the mountains, so they take their “watchdog” duties very seriously (even if it’s just watching over the couch)! They are good with being guard dogs without the scary vibes and aggression that you would normally think with a guard dog; they’re more of an early doorbell just to alert you! At daycare, they’re usually calm, sweet-natured loungers who make friends easily, and at boarding, they enjoy hearty meals followed by equally hearty naps. Think of them as the chill, wise guardians of doggy daycare — and honestly, we wish more people would get them! 🐑

👉 What to Know: Pyrenees are famous for their patience and loyalty, but they’re also known for their very big voices — they love to bark, especially at night or when they sense something unusual. They also have a shorter velociraptor puppy phase than a lot of breeds. Where a pointer is a psycho the first 4+ years of life a typical Pyrenees is pretty steady eddy by a year or so old! Their thick coats shed heavily and need regular grooming and brushing! They can also be prone to hip dysplasia and bloat, so proper care and digestion rests before exercise are key. With the right home, they’re loyal protectors and giant cuddle buddies. ❤️

Fun fact: they sleep with half their brain awake to guard at night🧠
