🍽️ CHOW TIME 🍽️

Today, your Troopers got a break from their MREs for lunch and got a Deep South meal catered for them courtesy of 2LT Ryan Roth. They enjoyed red beans and rice, fried catfish, sausage, sweet tea, and all the fixins while sharing some laughs and strengthening their bonds with one another after being led in prayer by SGT Carter Bunch.

While extended time away from home is difficult, these moments help forge core memories and build strong relationships that may not always come naturally during the normal drill weekends. Day by day, we are becoming a stronger team for the days, weeks, and months ahead on deployment 🇺🇸

💥 JRTC ROTATION 25-08 💥

Bushmaster Troop completed a demanding rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) in the legendary Tigerland—a critical milestone in our preparation for deployment. Over two relentless weeks inside “the box,” our Troopers operated in a high-intensity combat simulation replicating the realities of Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO).

From the moment we stepped off, it was total immersion: no beds, no showers, no toilets, no cell phones—just raw soldiering under pressure. Everything the enemy says we need, we proved we could do without. Geronimo—the opposing force (OPFOR)—is infamous for testing units across every warfighting function: maneuver, fires, intelligence, sustainment, protection, and command and control.

Whether conducting zone reconnaissance or screening operations, our Troopers met each challenge with grit, adaptability, and decisive action. Pushing through exhaustion, uncertainty, and friction, they emerged sharper, tougher, and more lethal—ultimately forging a more cohesive, combat-ready team.

With JRTC behind us, we now shift our focus to post-mobilization training to further prepare for our deployment to CENTCOM 🇺🇸

Today’s send-off ceremony for Troop A & Troop B, 1-113 CAV was an incredible honor to our Soldiers as they prepare to deploy to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The strength of our military is deeply rooted in the unwavering support of families, friends, and the community. Their presence today served as a powerful reminder that these Soldiers do not walk this path alone. From heartfelt goodbyes to proud salutes, the love and encouragement surrounding them was truly inspiring.

Weather is still showing a chance of rain overnight into tomorrow, but we are hopeful that the weather will cooperate as we send off our troopers from the Pool Pavilion Parade Field!

🌦️ SEND-OFF WEATHER UPDATE 🌦️

Families and friends, we are still planning on having the ceremony outdoors at the Pool Pavilion Parade Field this Wednesday. The forecast has shown Wednesday to be clear for the most part, but there is still a small chance of rain. We will provide a final weather/venue confirmation tomorrow.

As a side note, seating is limited to small bleachers and a number of chairs, so you may wish to bring lawn chairs as well.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday at 3:00 (2:00 pm for Soldiers).

🏌🏼 GET IN THE HOLE! ⛳️

Two of Bushmaster Troop’s very own participated in the 18th Annual EANGI Charity Classic—and left with the tournament-winning gold jackets!

1SG James Rumelhart and SGT Dylan Burns were joined by SGT Jonathan Youngbear of A Troop 1-113th CAV and TSGT Jessica Rumelhart of the 132d Wing. Together, they channeled their inner Happy Gilmore and dominated the competition at Terrace Hills Golf Course.

📸 SOLDIER SPOTLIGHT 📸

SGT Zach Davis joined the National Guard five years ago, inspired by a close friend and a strong family tradition of service. He originally enlisted as an engineer and deployed to Saudi Arabia and Jordan. He has since joined Bushmaster Troop, and recently became MOS qualified as an 11C Mortarman.

Outside the Guard, SGT Davis is a peace officer candidate with the state patrol, preparing to enter the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He hopes to build a dual career in military service and civilian law enforcement.

In his free time, Zach enjoys weightlifting, target shooting, duck hunting, and gaming. His long-term goals include serving 20 years in the military, completing the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, and buying a home.

His advice to others: “Put in the work during your time in, and you will get more out of your military experience.”
