A little something new from Andrews Farm...
Around here, we're always making something.
Soap.
Bread.
Garden goodies.
And apparently now...
CANDY.
Paul's been experimenting with a homemade chocolate bar loaded with caramel, peanut butter nougat and peanuts.
We're calling them Paul's Back Forty Bars.
They're rich. They're messy. They're ridiculously decadent.
We're still working out the details, but we're thinking these might need a spot at a future farm stand.
Would you be tempted?

2026 SAVANNA Ɨ BOER BUCK

Looking to add some growth, muscle and hardiness to your meat-goat program?
This 2026 model Savanna Ɨ Boer buck is looking for a new herd!
šŸ”„ Why a Savanna Ɨ Boer cross?
This cross brings together some really desirable traits:
• Boer: excellent growth, muscling and meat production
• Savanna: hardiness, strong foraging ability and adaptability
• The cross: a nice combination of growth + muscle + durability
A great option for someone wanting to produce kids that can grow well on pasture while adding meat-goat type and muscle to the next generation.
Savannas are known for being tough, productive goats that can handle challenging conditions, while Boer genetics can add that extra frame, thickness and growth potential.

This guy has a lot to offer.

A little behind-the-scenes soap cutting! šŸ§¼šŸ”Ŗ
Ever wonder why our bars are rough cut instead of perfectly square?
Because handmade soap is supposed to look handmade! Every bar gets cut by hand, giving each one its own little personality.
Factory-perfect? Nope. Farmhouse handmade? Absolutely!

Need a fast dinner idea the whole family will like? My friend Jill sent me this recipe.... and it's a keeper!
Olive Garden Italian Chicken Pasta

In crockpot put 3 or 4 chicken breasts, 1 pkg cream cheese and 1 bottle Olive Garden Italian dressing (Walmart even carries this!) Cook on low a few hours till chicken breasts are done. Shred chicken. Add cooked broccoli, 1 pkg cooked noodles (i used a higher protein noodle to help our macros) and some parmesan cheese. Stir it up and enjoy!

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve sewn a nursing school patch onto a pair of scrubs.Thirty years, to be exact. 😳
And today, I’m sewing one onto my son Lukas’s.
Lukas is taking a bit of a nontraditional route to get where he’s going, but honestly? We couldn’t be more proud of him.
He already has a bachelor’s degree in biology with a medical emphasis. His original plan was PA school, but after doing a whole lot of research and soul-searching, he decided that becoming a Nurse Practitioner may fit what he ultimately wants to do even better.
So now he’s picking up his RN while working in occupational medicine, with that bigger goal still in sight.
And let me tell you…nursing school is HARD. I was a good student when I went through it 30 years ago, but I can only wish I were as smart as this kid. šŸ˜‚ He has a brain that absolutely amazes me.
But what makes me even prouder than his intelligence is the person he is.
He is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I know. The kind of person who genuinely cares about people. And I think that is going to matter every bit as much as what he learns from a textbook.
I know there have been times when he’s been hard on himself because he didn’t take the straight-line path to where he thought he was going.
But maybe it wasn’t a detour.
Maybe it was the route he was supposed to take.
Because somewhere along that ā€œnot-so-directā€ path, he met his sweet bride. ā¤ļø He gained experiences and knowledge that are going to serve him well. And he figured out more about the kind of provider he wants to become.
Sometimes life doesn't take us where we planned to go. Sometimes it takes us somewhere better.
And then there’s the whole male nurse thing…
The male nurses I know are some of the absolute BEST. Maybe it’s because they’ve had to put up with a little extra crap along the way. šŸ˜‚ Maybe surviving nursing school gives them a slightly twisted sense of humor and a very specific ability to laugh at the chaos.
Whatever it is, I’m here for it.
Kind. Smart. Compassionate. A little bit sarcastic. And willing to run toward the hard stuff when other people are running away.
Sounds like a pretty damn good nurse to me.
So here I am, 30 years later, sewing on another nursing school patch.
Only this time, it belongs to my kid.
And I couldn't be prouder. ā¤ļø
Go get ’em, Lukas. Your mama believes in you. šŸ©ŗā¤ļø

Today I received something that honestly kinda took my breath away for a second
Another goat breeder, Catherine Maddox Taylor, someone who understands the love we pour into these animals, took Helga’s registration certificate and created this beautiful pencil drawing of her. She captured her face, her expression, even the little details that made Helga Helga.
Sadly we had to say goodbye to her this year. And somehow seeing her like this brought back all the feelings.
Her name, her pedigree, her registration number, her little blue-eyed face… all there together.
We spend so much time talking about pedigrees, genetics, breeding plans and the next generation. That’s part of what we do. You don't think much about the empty feeling when they leave us.
I am so incredibly thankful to Catherine for created this for us. You didn’t just draw a goat—you gave me a way to keep a little piece of her forever.ā¤ļø

This is why I love making things from what we have right here on our farm. ā¤ļø
What started with our goats producing milk becomes something completely different in my hands.

Today it became soap. 🐐🧼
There’s no assembly line. No giant factory. No conveyor belt.
Just me in my kitchen, measuring everything carefully, mixing, swirling, pouring into molds and adding those little finishing touches by hand.

It’s messy.
It’s time-consuming.
Sometimes it doesn't go exactly how I pictured it. šŸ˜‚
But every bar is made by hand, right here at home, with a whole lot of care.
And someday when you pick up one of our bars at the farm stand, I want you to know there’s a story behind it.

From our goats.
Made by our hands.
From our farm to you. ā¤ļø

OH. MY. GOAT. šŸ˜
We made CAJETA today!
If you’ve never had cajeta, imagine the richest, creamiest, most ridiculously delicious caramel you’ve ever tasted… it's made with goat milk.
We slow-cooked ours until it turned into that gorgeous, silky, golden caramel goodness. And yes… there may have been some quality control spoonfuls involved.
This is exactly the kind of thing we’ve been dreaming about for our future farm stand—taking what our little farm gives us and turning it into something downright delicious. ā¤ļø
Andrews Farm is going to have some seriously good stuff waiting for you when that stand finally opens. šŸ„›šŸžšŸ„ššŸ§¼šŸŖ

Well. I have had a HELLA morning.
Stayed up way too late scrolling last night, consequently overslept, and woke up to Paul standing there saying, ā€œIt’s 6:07.ā€
F!
So I throw myself together and head to the barn to start milking.
Everything is going reasonably well until it’s time to switch goats and one particular as***le decides she is NOT going back into her pen.
Instead, she makes a break for it because apparently she has unfinished business with the grain.
And suddenly ELEVEN-TEEN GOATS are out and headed INTO THE BARN.
So there I am, chasing goats back outside, cussing at every single one of them as I go.
Finally get everyone where they belong.
Next goat steps directly into the strip cup.
Now I’m wearing goat milk.
Because of course I am.
Then another one runs the milk jar on the milker right over into the vacuum balance jar. Dammit
šŸ’©
Starting to question my life choices.
I finally get back in the house at 7:26, need to leave for work in approximately five minutes, realizing I prolly smell like a goat who has been to Bath & Body Works.
Hindsight....really should have just pulled covers over my head, called out with explosive diarrhea and let everyone fend for themselves
But nooooooo.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, off to work I go.
Breakfast this morning consists of a sugar-free Red Bull, a piece of beef jerky and half a stick of gum covered in purse dirt
Happy Friday, bi***es.
If you need me, I’ll be at work pretending I have my s**t together. ā˜•ļøšŸ
