❤️ Yesterday, 200 Dogs Have a Better Chance Because of You ❤️

It’s hard to put into words what today meant to us.

When we first started hosting low-cost vaccine clinics, we hoped we could make a difference for a few families and a few dogs. Today, we watched that dream grow into something so much bigger.

Over 200 dogs received the vaccines they need to stay healthy, protected, and by their families’ sides. That’s over 200 dogs who are safer from preventable diseases. Over 200 families who were able to access affordable veterinary care. Over 200 opportunities to keep beloved pets where they belong—at home, loved and cared for.

As we looked out at the line of cars, the smiling faces, and the dogs eagerly hanging their heads out of windows, we were reminded of something important:

No shelter, no veterinary clinic, and no organization can do this alone.

It takes a community.

To every volunteer who signed up weeks ago, thank you. To every volunteer who saw the crowd, saw the need, and simply jumped in to help, thank you. You gave your time, your energy, and your hearts today. You helped keep things moving, kept spirits high, and ensured that every person who came through felt welcomed and cared for.

A very special thank you goes to Anne Elise from Valley View Veterinary Clinic. While many people were enjoying their Saturday, Anne chose to spend hers serving our community. She generously donated her time and expertise to provide rabies vaccinations for hundreds of dogs. Her compassion and dedication helped make this event possible, and we are so incredibly grateful.

And to Con Paulos Chevrolet—thank you will never feel like enough. Your sponsorship wasn’t just a donation to an event. It was an investment in the health and well-being of hundreds of dogs throughout our community. Because of your generosity, families were able to access affordable veterinary care, and pets received protection they might not otherwise have had.

Yesterday wasn’t about numbers.

It wasn’t about how many vaccines were given or how many cars came through the line.

It was about a community that showed up for its animals.

It was about people choosing kindness.

It was about neighbors helping neighbors.

It was about making sure that someone’s best friend gets another healthy year chasing balls, riding in trucks, sleeping on couches, and greeting their family at the door.

To everyone who volunteered, donated, attended, shared our posts, sponsored this event, or simply cheered us on—thank you.

This event reminded us why we do what we do.

And yesterday reminded us that when a community comes together, incredible things happen.

❤️ From all of us at the City of Jerome Animal Shelter, thank you for helping us protect the dogs we all love

Help came from many departments within the City of Jerome as well. City of Jerome Police Department, City of Jerome Fire Department, City of Jerome Information Technology Department and City of Jerome Administrative Department. There is nothing like the support we received across departments that all aim to serve our community.

🐾 HOME-TO-HOME ADOPTION: AMOS MOSES 🐾

If you’ve been looking for a dog with a big personality, endless love to give, and just the right amount of goofy charm, let us introduce you to Amos Moses. ❤️

At around 2 years old, Amos Moses is the total package. This handsome Corgi/Heeler mix is:
🐾 Neutered
🐾 Up to date on vaccinations
🐾 House trained
🐾 Kennel trained
🐾 Great with kids
🐾 Great with other animals

Amos has plenty of energy for adventures, walks, and playtime, but don’t let that fool you—he’s also convinced he’s a lap dog and will happily curl up next to his favorite people for snuggles.

His expressive ears, sweet face, and hilarious personality make him impossible not to love. Whether he’s keeping watch from the couch, peeking over a blanket to see what you’re doing, or claiming the best seat in the house, Amos is always ready to be part of the family.

🏡 This is a home-to-home adoption. Amos is currently living in a home, which allows him to avoid the stress of entering the shelter while we help him find the perfect match. Our goal is to find him a loving family where he can continue to thrive.

If you think Amos Moses might be the missing piece of your family, please reach out to learn more about him!

Please share to help Amos find the forever home he deserves. ❤️🐶

🐾 Home-to-Home Adoption Opportunity: Meet Bear! 🐾

Some dogs come into your life and leave paw prints on your heart forever. Bear is one of those dogs.

Bear is a 6-year-old Border Collie mix who is looking for a new forever home through a home-to-home adoption. This difficult decision has nothing to do with anything Bear has done—he is truly an exceptional dog who is deeply loved.

Bear is the complete package. He is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, knows his basic commands, and has wonderful manners. He can be trusted in the home, even when left alone for several hours, and has never been destructive. He's respectful of boundaries, stays off furniture and beds, and is as low-maintenance as they come.

If you're looking for a family dog, Bear checks every box. He is incredibly gentle, patient, and loving with children of all ages—from newborn babies to adults. His calm, sweet nature makes him a wonderful companion for families.

Bear enjoys the simple things in life: car rides, walks, hikes, playing fetch, and spending time outdoors. While he loves a good adventure, he's just as happy curling up for a nap or snuggling with his favorite people.

One of Bear's most impressive qualities is how well he gets along with other animals. He has successfully lived around dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and both small and large livestock. He truly is everyone's friend.

Bear's ideal home would have plenty of room to explore, play, and enjoy life. He would love animal companions and a family who will cherish him as much as he deserves.

He is up-to-date on vaccines, has a clean veterinary history, and recently received a health checkup.

Bear is not just a good dog—he's the kind of dog people spend years hoping to find.

If you think Bear might be the missing piece in your family, please reach out for more information.

🐾 Why We Are Encouraging Home-to-Home Adoptions 🐾

As many of you know, shelters across the country are experiencing an unprecedented number of owner surrender requests, and our shelter is no exception. Every day, we receive calls from families who are facing difficult circumstances and need to rehome a beloved pet.

Unfortunately, the number of dogs needing placement far exceeds the space available in most shelters. While we will always do our best to help dogs in need, we have to be mindful of our limited kennel space and the well-being of the dogs already in our care.

That is why we are working to facilitate more home-to-home adoptions whenever possible.

A home-to-home adoption allows a dog to move directly from their current home into a new loving home without having to spend time in the shelter. For many dogs, this is the best possible outcome.

Even the best shelters can be stressful environments. Dogs suddenly lose the people they know, their daily routines, and the comfort of a familiar home. The sights, sounds, smells, and constant activity of a shelter can be overwhelming. Some dogs become anxious, withdrawn, or struggle to adjust despite our staff’s best efforts to provide enrichment, exercise, and comfort.

By helping owners connect directly with potential adopters, we can often reduce that stress and make the transition much easier on the dog. It also allows us to reserve our limited kennel space for dogs with nowhere else to go, stray dogs, cruelty cases, and emergency situations.

When we share a home-to-home adoption post, it does not mean the dog is in trouble or has done anything wrong. In many cases, these are well-loved family pets whose owners are facing circumstances beyond their control. Our goal is simply to help these dogs find their next chapter while minimizing stress and maximizing their chances of a successful transition.

Thank you for supporting not only the dogs in our shelter, but also the families and pets in our community who need a helping hand. Together, we can help more dogs find the loving homes they deserve. ❤️🐾
