đź’” URGENT: THE ONLY ONE LEFT ON THE EUTH LIST đź’”
(MORE PHOTOS IN COMMENTS) đź“·
The shelter staff fell in love with Barley. How could they not? She’s gentle, sweet, and so desperately wants to be loved.
That’s what made it all the more heartbreaking when she was the only dog left behind on the euthanasia list — the only one who didn’t make it out. All the others were saved.
She was brought to one of our partners in GA as a stray, scared, covered in fleas, and alone. No collar. No microchip. No one is looking for her. She waited quietly, hoping someone would come for her.
She became available for adoption, and someone did commit...
Barley had met a family. They looked her in the eyes and told her she was going home. They knew she was on the euth list. They knew they were saving her life. And then… they disappeared.
No call. No message. Just silence.
People don’t always realize what happens behind the scenes — when a dog gets a commitment, shelters stop scrambling. They stop pleading. They stop panicking because they believe they’re finally going home.
Imagine her heartbreak. Imagine her confusion, waiting for the people who had promised to come back. To watch one more innocent soul slip away, not because they weren’t loved, but because someone broke a promise, is harrowing.
We desperately want to save Barley. She deserves to make it out alive. Barley has known nothing but heartbreak. Please, let’s not let this be the end of her story.
