Blue Fairy Otterhounds

A social site of the Blue Fairy Otterhounds, the AKC Otterhound Breeders of Merit and Breed Ambassad Our Otterhounds are social and versatile.

Our mission as the AKC Otterhound Breeders of Merit is to promote and preserve these wonderful hounds. With less than 800 Otterhounds in the world, they are one of the most endangered dog breeds. All our dogs are AKC Champions or Grand Champions and Good Canine Citizens. We participate in a variety of dog activities, including confirmation, obedience, agility and NoseWork. Our hounds are intelligent, friendly and great breed ambassadors. In our breeding program, we promote good health, temperament and most of all great family companions. Our puppies are raised in our home as family members with emphasis on good nutrition and both physical & social development. We welcome all opportunities to introduce our Pack to the public. Sharing the love and doggie kisses :)

.. and then there was only one!

Introducing Nesta - Blue Fairy’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond 💎🧚‍♀️. My first Wheaton Otterhound! Pretty exciting. It took me a while to make up my mind, even though there were only 2 females in the litter. The signs were there, I was just slow to accept the obvious. She even has a white tip on her tail just like her Grandpa Waylon! Go figure 🤣🤣🤣

End of an era! The last puppy left this morning. Violet barely fit in that carryon bag, but it was better than an 8 hour drive to Northern California. This was the toughest good bye and yes, Freddie knew.. ❤️🐾🧚‍♀️

Last week with the two girls. It was fun, adventurous and mellow at the same time. We developed a daily routine for meals, sleep and play. Puppies attended couple of classes and met non-Otterhound friends. Their world is getting bigger every day. I’m so lucky to be there and watch! 😎🐾🌎🧚‍♀️

P.S. I recently noticed that the girls have almost identical white markings on their muzzles. Crazy! 🤣

Never to early to practice the “come” command. Even with some interference.. 🤣🐾

One more “good bye”. Safe travels sweet boy! ❤️🐾🧚‍♀️

Just a bit more puppy fun. I’m not sure why they all want the same toy or chewy even if I offer them more/other choices. Go figure..! 🤣🐾🧚‍♀️

The three amigos are still here thanks to the crazy Santa Ana winds and flight delays at San Diego airport. One more day before the puppy pack shrinks again. Bitter-sweet again.. ❤️🐾🧚‍♀️
