🐾 Kitten Season is Here! What Should You Do If You Find Kittens? 🐾

Spring and summer bring an influx of kittens, and while they may look abandoned, that’s not always the case. Knowing what to do can save lives! 💛

🐱 First, Pause and Observe!
If the kittens look clean, quiet, and tucked away, their mom is likely nearby. Mother cats often leave to find food and will return.
➡️ Watch from a distance for a few hours before intervening.

⚠️ Important: Kittens NEED Their Mom!
Very young kittens have a high rate of death if separated from their mother too early. Mom provides warmth, nutrition, and immune support that we simply cannot fully replace. Removing them too soon can unintentionally put them at serious risk.

🍼 If They Are Truly Alone

If the kittens are:

Crying constantly
Cold or weak
Dirty or covered in fleas
In immediate danger

Then they may need help right away.

❗ DO NOT give cow’s milk, this can make them very sick.

📞 Call Us First!
Before picking them up, contact Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Animal Control at 209-694-2730. We can guide you on the best next steps and help ensure the kittens get proper care.

🏠 If You Must Intervene

Keep them warm (a towel and heating pad on low works well). Handle minimally to reduce stress

Do not attempt to feed unless instructed

💡 Best Case Scenario
Kittens do best with their mom. If she’s around and the area is safe, leaving them in place is often the best option.

🐾 We know it’s hard to see tiny kittens and not scoop them up, but the right steps make all the difference.

🐷🚨 WANTED: Two Snack. Loving Escape Artists 🚨🐷

We need your help, Tuolumne County!

These two sweet pigs were found wandering Hwy 49 near Jackass Hill late last night, apparently on a mission… possibly snacks, possibly world domination. Our officers were able to safely capture them using their one true weakness, treats.

They are safe, happy, and currently enjoying the VIP life, but we know someone out there is missing these adorable troublemakers.

If these porky pals belong to you (or you know who they might belong to), please contact Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Animal Control so we can reunite them with their home! They are safe at the shelter.

🐾 Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week 🐾

This week, we proudly recognize the hardworking team at Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Animal Control, serving a unique and diverse rural community where no two days are ever the same.

In Tuolumne County, our job goes far beyond cats and dogs. Our team is out in the field and in the shelter every day caring for domestic animals, livestock, and wildlife alike.

🐶 Responding to stray, injured, and neglected pets

🐱 Providing daily shelter care, cleaning, feeding, and medical treatment

🐴 Assisting with large animals like horses, goats, pigs, and livestock, often in challenging terrain

🦨 Handling wildlife calls, including animals that may be sick, injured, or potentially rabid

🔥 Responding during wildfires and emergencies to evacuate and shelter animals of all sizes

💉 Providing vaccines, medical care, and disease control to protect both animals and the public

This job isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. We are proud to serve our community and the animals that depend on us. If you see one of our staff members this week, take a moment to say thank you!

Molly is READY to trade kennel life for a couch, a yard, and a family of her own 💔➡️🏡

This girl has one “flaw”… she’s FULL of energy! ⚡
But honestly? That just means she’s full of LIFE, LOVE, and excitement to be part of your world.

🐾 About Molly:
• Spayed ✔️
• Up to date on vaccines ✔️
• Dog-friendly ✔️
• 100% NOT aggressive ✔️
• Professional zoomie expert 🐕💨

Molly just needs someone who understands that she hasn’t had the chance to just be a dog yet. Shelter life is hard on high energy pups, and all she wants is space to run, play, and learn what it’s like to belong.

She may jump and get a little wild when she’s excited, but with a little training and consistency, she’s going to be an AMAZING companion. The kind of dog that hikes with you, plays all day, and then crashes at your feet at night ❤️

💭 Imagine Molly:
Running in a yard…
Going on adventures…
Finally having her person.

She’s been waiting far too long for that chance.

📍 Come meet Molly!
