Humane Society of Tuolumne County

Humane Society of Tuolumne County Come visit us! We are open from 9:30AM to 3:00PM Tuesday-Saturday. In addition, the HSOTC has programs available that enhance our community at large.

The Humane Society of Tuolumne County (HSOTC) has consistently found homes for an average of 220 cats and dogs per year. Our staff and dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to care for these animals, providing them with the second chance they so greatly deserve. Supplying food, shelter, exercise, medical care, vaccinations, and love until our residents find their new forever home. For instance, the

Low-Income Spay/Neuter Voucher Program as well as the feline-specific SNAP program assists low-income individuals and families by easing the financial hardship of spaying or neutering their pets. The HSOTC also provides free humane education classes and presentations to the community in order to teach individuals and families how to become more responsible pet owners. Emergency veterinarian assistance and pet food are among some of the other vital outreach services hat the shelter provides. The HSOTC receives funding only in the form of donations and fundraising efforts. We receive no government funding nor are we associated with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). This is why it is so important that our community be aware of these simple facts; we need the support of our community in order to survive. Support can come in the form of volunteerism, general donations, membership, pledge-to-give sustaining program, and attending HSOTC events. It is also important that this message is spread throughout our community - and we need your help getting the message out. By supporting the HSOTC, you are helping us to find forever homes for the homeless animals of Tuolumne County.

We’re deep in kitten season, and it feels like there are kittens everywhere right now. So what should you do if you find one? They’re tiny, fragile, and they *look* like they might need help… 🐱

But wait — don’t kit-nap! Just because mama cat isn’t in sight doesn’t mean she’s not nearby. And she’s her kittens’ best chance at survival—no one does it better than mom.

Before you scoop up those fuzzy little babies, check out our flowchart to help guide you on the best course of action when you come across stray kittens.

What a great turnout last weekend at the low-cost rabies vaccine clinic hosted by Tuolumne County Animal Control (TCAC). Big thanks to TCAC for hosting, and to Second Chance Spay & Neuter Clinic for providing *free* DHPP and FVRCP vaccines, as well!

We placed 17 microchips that day — the cheapest insurance against a lost pet that money can buy!

If you missed us on Sunday—not to worry! We offer low-cost microchip placement year-round. Give us a call at 209-984-5489 to schedule your pet’s microchip appointment. Only $10 per microchip (and that includes registration!). It’s quick, easy, affordable—and also the most surefire way to make sure your pet, if ever lost, can find their way home to you. ❤️

We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s California Adopt-a-Pet Day—a statewide adoption initiative organized by CalAnimals, the SF SPCA, and the ASPCA.

The goal? 5,000 adoptions across California on Saturday, June 7th.

And get this! We’re waiving adoption fees for EVERY animal adopted that day, thanks to generous sponsorship from the ASPCA.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is the perfect moment to take the leap.

*To participate, you’ll need to be pre-approved. Just fill out an adoption application online (hsotc.org/adopt) or in person at the shelter before Saturday. Then, peruse our adoptable pets on the website (link in comments) and stop by the shelter on June 7th to find your new best friend!*
