🎃🐾 Tip Thursday: Is That Halloween Costume Pet-Friendly? 👻🧡

We love seeing our furry friends dressed up for spooky season, but before your pet becomes the cutest pumpkin on the block, make sure their costume is safe and comfortable!

👕 Check the fit: Costumes should never be too tight or restrict breathing, walking, seeing, or moving freely.

🎭 Skip small accessories: Buttons, bells, fake eyeballs, and other detachable pieces can become choking hazards if chewed or swallowed.

🐾 Watch their body language: If your pet is freezing in place, trying to escape, excessively panting, or showing signs of distress, it’s time to remove the costume.

🔦 Think visibility: If you’re taking your dog out after dark, consider reflective gear or a light-up collar to help them stay visible.

📸 Keep it short and sweet: Some pets are perfectly happy posing for a quick picture, while others would rather celebrate in their birthday suit!

🧡 Our tip: Always let your pet’s comfort come first. A cute costume is never worth compromising their safety!

🎃🐾 Wellness Wednesday: Halloween Pet Safety! 🐾🎃

Halloween is almost here, and while the spooky season is full of treats for us, some Halloween goodies can be scary for our furry friends! Keep your pets happy and healthy with these simple tips:

🍫 Keep candy out of reach. Chocolate, sugar-free treats containing xylitol, and candy wrappers can be dangerous for pets.

🚪 Create a quiet space. The doorbell and trick-or-treaters can be overwhelming. Give your pet a cozy spot away from the excitement.

🕯️ Watch those decorations. Keep candles, cords, and small decorations where curious paws can’t reach them.

🐕 Check their ID. With doors opening and closing, make sure your pet’s collar and microchip information are up to date.

If you think your pet has gotten into something they shouldn’t, contact your veterinarian right away.

🐱💙 Teamwork Tuesday: When the Litter Box Tells a Story

Blair came in for vomiting and constipation, bringing our team together to help evaluate what was causing the discomfort. 🐾

Constipation means stool becomes difficult to pass—and it can cause more than trouble in the litter box!

🔎 Signs to watch for:
• Straining or making repeated trips to the litter box
• Passing small, hard, dry stools
• Fewer bowel movements than usual
• Decreased appetite, vomiting, or discomfort

🚨 Straining can also mean trouble urinating. If your cat is producing little or no urine, seek veterinary care immediately—this can be a life-threatening emergency.

👻 Create a quiet retreat with their favorite bed, water, and familiar toys.
🚪 Keep them safely away from the front door during trick-or-treating.
🎶 Try soft music to help soften outside noises.
🐶 Skip the costume if your pet seems uncomfortable—cozy is always a great look!

🐾 Furry Friend Friday: A little pause for Pogo 💕

Between the ringing phones, busy appointments, and everyday chaos, there are moments like this—when we stop for a second and simply admire the little life in front of us. 🥹

Pogo the opossum came in to have his legs checked, but clearly, a little admiration was part of his visit, too! Just look at our team taking him in. How could we resist that face? 🤍

These moments remind us why we fell in love with caring for animals in the first place. Every patient brings something special to our day, and we’re grateful to be part of their care.

Stocking up for trick-or-treaters? Make sure your Halloween candy stash stays safely tucked away! 🍬

🍫 Chocolate can be toxic to dogs and cats.
🍬 Sugar-free candy and gum may contain xylitol, which is extremely dangerous for dogs.
⚠️ Swallowed candy wrappers can cause intestinal blockages.

Keep candy in a closed cabinet, remind little ones not to share, and give your furry friend a pet-safe treat instead! 🧡
