Conservation management is a vital component of our operations at Horse Swamp Kennels. Our mission is to create habitat and establish a healthy, huntable population of wild bobwhite quail on our property, while also managing for ducks, large game, and numerous small game animals. Prescribed fire is a best practice for managing our land, timber, soil, wildlife, and their environment. We recently implemented a 3.5-acre burn on our property in late February, and here are some clips recapping a successful weekend of burning and habitat management.

Miss Maggie Mae is currently participating in obedience training with us. She is an exceptionally sweet doodle that I have enjoyed working with. She's making great progress and will be heading home shortly. Her main issue is managing her excitement, resulting in excessive jumping. Thank You Shanna and Tony for allowing me to train her!

As Firearm Season opens I’d like to let everyone know I offer tracking. My dog has successfully recovered multiple deer over the last few years I lost my phone and lost some pictures but here is a stud we found a few years ago. I charge $100 flat rate for anything under a hour from my kennel find it or not. I will drive up to 3 hours but the price will go up with distance. We are 1/1 so far this year and looking to help save the harvest for hunters in our area. Nothing is worse then finding your wall hanger by following the buzzards. Tips are expected with found deer.

I will be offering Guided Preserve Quail Hunts again this year. I will be hunting out of Cottle Branch Shooting Preserve in Richlands and Oak Hill Shooting Preserve in Snow Hill. This is freelance guiding I am not affiliated with either preserve. The cost will be $100 for 2 guns and for each additional gun it will be $50 max of 5 plus you buy the birds. Only limit I have on birds is no more then 75 per hunt. Tips are appreciated.
