In 1891, James W. Robinson opened the Robinson Funeral Home in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania where he was joined by his sons, J. Arthur and Harold T. Robinson.
In 1928, J. Arthur opened a second funeral home in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was later joined by his nephew, R. McKay Lytle, Jr., and then by his great-nephew, Ralph M. Lytle, III. After four generations of the Robinson and Lytle families’ ownership, Richard T. Wolfe, Jr., a life-long resident of Indiana, purchased the funeral home in November, 2000.
He worked under J. Arthur Robinson as a student valet, and under both generations of the Lytle families as a funeral director.
In February 2020, Robinson-Lytle, Inc., was sold to Richard L. Shoemaker of Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville, Pennsylvania and now will be known as Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home.
The Shoemaker Family plans to bring their mission of “Our family helping yours with courtesy, kindness, a comforting hand of friendship and service to all,” to the Indiana, Pennsylvania community with keeping the high standards that James W. Robinson put in place back in 1891.
We are pleased to continue our personal service in Indiana County by helping families we serve through their most difficult times, before, during, and after the loss of a loved one.
