So it is official! The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania awarded the Indiana County Tourist Bureau a grant established by Governor Josh Shapiro to help spotlight local areas and communities as part of his "PA Great American Getaway" which is under visitPA.

Partners supporting the program include Mutts of Merit, LLC., Indiana County Parks & Trails, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, IRMC, Aging Services, Inc., and WalkWorks in Indiana County.

These entities all see the value Indiana County has to offer for residents and visitors alike who own dogs! Our goal is to promote destinations and activities within the county that are pet friendly. We want owners and dogs to enjoy time together, being active, and seeing the beauty Indiana County has to offer throughout each region.

"Indiana County's Canine Adventure" is a reoccurring event to entice travel and movement throughout the County. Participation requires you to capture a photograph of your dog at a minimum of 30 highlighted locations. A list of businesses with outdoor dining facilities, landmarks, infrastructure, parks, and trails will be identified. You will be required to capture at least 2 of the 4 seasons in your pictures.

To apply, you must register through yhe Indiana County Tourist Bureau. The process will start the beginning of June. Upon registration, you will receive a Hoodie with matching bandana for you and your pup.

All contestants who submit the photograph portfolio will be entered to win a drawing that consists of hotel vouchers, restaurants gift cards/vouchers, and some free run time Mutts of Merit in Motion.

I will let you all know as soon as entries begin. Guys, this is going to be fun. Let us get the stink blown off ourselves and our dogs as we head out for our outdoor adventures and see Indiana County from our dog's perspective. Let us get healthy together!

CONGRATULATIONS MR. VISLOSKY!!

Those of you in White Township, Indiana Co. .... November 7, 2023 is the day we can invite new leadership into our municipality.

The thing is, White Township has an ordinance against barking dogs but nothing to protect the dogs from what might be making them bark. We need consistency with our ordinances and governance that is consistent with the time.

Remember, this is a 6 year term. Do you know how much your property value can decrease in that time? What can happen to your neighborhood? 6 years is a long time to re-elect a leader who told the Indiana Gazette "sometimes we have to put up with things we don't like" (Indiana Gazette, 8/10/2023, A-8).😢

Please consider giving two newcomers a chance to bring new ideas and opportunities into White Township:

Vislosky brings hands on knowledge as to the inner operations of township work & Heilman casts knowledge and understanding as to what can and will protect the land in our township.

Today was an absolutely beautiful day to mark the official opening of Mutts of Merit in Motion. The community support was overwhelming, and I cannot thank those of you who attended or sent well wishes enough. It was a complete honor to have world renown trainer Pat Miller of Peaceable Paws LLC cut the ribbon to mark the opening as well as having PA State Rep. Jim Struzzi hang the United States Flag he donated with my cousin and veteran Frank Alexander of Alexander Strength Development LLC . Robin Gorman, Indiana County Commissioner and Sherene Hess, Indiana County Commissioner both attended to show support to the event and growth in the county. All of this was spotlighted with the help of Laura Herrington and Greg Van Horn of the Indiana County Tourist Bureau .

It is pleasure to provide Indiana County with a private use dog park that can be reserved to allow dogs of all breeds and temperament an opportunity to sniff, run, and be dogs. This is a place where owners can interact with their dogs off leash and enjoy serenity of a park nestled in the outskirts of town.

Pat Miller graciously received the dedication of the park because had it not been for the countless hours sitting in her training academies, I never would have fully seen or embraced the value of such a place. Knowing Pat, learning from Pat, and wanting to be like Pat motivated me to think outside the box and devise a plan to give all dogs in our community an opportunity they did not otherwise have. This is an opportunity that strengthens the human/canine bond more than anything else - interactive play!

Far too often we get into a rut where our dogs are at home resting while we are working, only to get time with us when we are tired from our long days at work and are not keen on exerting much energy. By coming to the park, you are giving yourself and your dog a change of venue. You are providing a time for your dog to be a dog and flourish as such while out in nature, taking in the fresh air.

Remember, if it was not for the support of other local businesses in our area, this park would still be in the planning stages. A huge thanks to the businesses that all made this possible:
