Acupuncture tends to surprise people because it works in ways they didn't expect.

We use it here for all kinds of things: chronic pain, arthritis, nerve damage, digestive issues, anxiety, recovery after surgery or illness. But it's also something we offer to animals who are doing just fine, because keeping a healthy animal feeling their best is just as worthwhile as treating a sick one.

Most clients come to us thinking it's a last resort, something to try when nothing else has. And while it absolutely has a place there, that's not the whole story. Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points in the body to trigger the release of natural pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory compounds without the side effects that can come with long-term medication.

Dr. Shiela Henriquez is the kind of doctor who listens first. Acupuncture is her specialty, but she also sees wellness patients and brings that same integrative mindset to every visit, looking at the whole animal, not just the presenting issue.

If you'd like to learn more or schedule a consultation with Dr. Henriquez, we'd love to hear from you! 🌙

We pulled 2 different tick species off 3 different patients recently. Do you know the difference?

Many ticks, especially deer ticks, can remain active anytime temperatures are 40°F or higher. If the ground is not deeply frozen and conditions are mild, they may still be searching for a host, even in late fall, winter, and early spring.

Deer ticks in our area may carry Lyme disease, Anaplasma, and Babesia. American dog ticks can also spread disease and are commonly found on pets and people. Even dogs who live a more natural lifestyle or mostly stay in the yard can still be exposed.

Simple prevention tips:
- Daily tick checks after going outside / walks / hikes
- Keep grass trimmed
- Avoid brushy areas when possible
- Ask us about prevention options that fit your lifestyle

We understand every family has different preferences. Tick prevention is not one-size-fits-all, and risk level depends on your pet’s lifestyle, location, and health history. We’re happy to help you build a prevention plan that aligns with your goals while keeping your pet protected.

Do you want your dog to look this cool in doggles?

While they do make a statement, they serve an important purpose during one of our newest offerings…

We’re honored to introduce Class IV Companion Therapy Laser at New Moon!

This gentle, light-based therapy supports the body’s natural healing process by:
-easing pain and inflammation
-promoting cellular repair
-improving mobility and comfort
-supporting recovery after injury or surgery

It’s non-invasive, calming, and designed to help your pet feel more like themselves again naturally.

The doggles protect their eyes… the laser helps restore their well-being. Reach out or ask us at your next visit to learn if this therapy is right for your pet!

A lot of pets are living with chronic symptoms that have been normalized over time.
Itching, ear infections, a**l glands, paw licking... these aren’t random issues, they’re signals. Our goal isn’t just to manage them… it’s to understand why they’re happening because symptoms are communication, not inconvenience.

Gut health plays a bigger role than most people realize, and stress can show up physically in ways that are easy to miss. Your pet shouldn’t have to be uncomfortable every day.

If your pet is dealing with these symptoms, we’re here to help you get to the root cause.

Spring has sprung, and so have the babies! 🐿️🐢
We know it’s tempting to rescue every little creature you find, but many "abandoned" babies are actually right where they need to be.

Quick Tips:
• Fledgling birds: Hopping is normal!
• Fawns: Mom is likely nearby and will return at dusk.
• Opossums: If they’re over 7 inches, they’re on their own!

Save this post to your favorites so you have it ready for your next nature walk!
