“I could never foster. I’d get too attached.”

We hear this all the time.

We get it ….to some extent. But, saying that is actually very hurtful to the selfless shelter volunteers, dedicated fosters, and reputable rescues. Because saying that means that we must not get attached…right?

But, we do get attached. Sometimes, deeply.

We help them heal from medical trauma, we teach them that the world is a safe place, we learn their personalities, we celebrate their little victories, we worry about them when they’re sick, and we fall in love with the dog they become when they finally feel safe.

And yes, often we cry when they leave. And, sometimes, it hurts like hell.

But here’s what we remind ourselves: we aren’t losing a dog. We’re helping them find their person.

Every foster home gives a dog a safe place to land while they wait for their forever family. And when that dog gets adopted, another dog gets the chance to be saved.
You don’t have to be someone who never gets attached. You just have to be someone willing to love them anyway.

Bubbles is officially adoption-ready!

She is a 7 month old, 35lb cutie patootie pittie princess.

Bubbles is fabulous with people, loves dogs (still learning to regulate play), potty trained, crate trained.

Just like any young puppy, she will need an owner who is dedicated to setting her up for success through training.

She is getting spayed next week then will be able to go to her forever fam 💕

After a very, very long (and expensive) medical road, Amelie is nearly adoption ready 🎉

We have a few final things to check off the list then our girl will be looking for her perfect match.

Amelie is an 11 year old, 9lb poodle girl who is the definition of a lap dog. She loves nothing more than curling up in our lap and cuddling you so hard. She’s a Velcro baby through and through.

Her ideal home is one that is experienced with the medical needs of a senior dog, as our girl will have ongoing maintenance for her pulmonary hypertension and fibrosis. She will be on life long meds and will require an adopter who is diligent about ongoing medical needs. What you give her in care, she will give back to you tenfold in love.

Amelie is an incredibly special little dog who deserves the world.

Norma Jeane is home!! In the exact forever we dreamed of: surrounded by human kiddos who will play with her all day long.

We are so thrilled that Norma settled in so well with her gaggle of girls. 🥰 Exactly where she was always meant to be.

Nutmeg fka Sookie is being such a great pup in foster! She’s one smart cookie 🧠🍪

At only 5 months old, she’s already shown us she knows how to master potty training and crate training. Baby Einstein!

She’s still learning other things like nice manners with other dogs, but she’s just a baby. She will figure it out in no time.

Nutmeg will be available for adoption in a few weeks after she has been vetted and we know her personality more.

Serena was found abandoned at a tennis court so we decided to name her after the tennis queen herself Serena Williams 🎾

Serena is everything good about a puppy: eager to please, excited to train, a total silly goose, great with dogs, playful with dog-savvy cats.

She’s doing beautifully with learning loose leash walking and already mastering her crate training.

Serena is a 6 month old, 25lb pittie mix puppy!

She will be spayed soon and then available for adoption. We are accepting apps now!

Milo went to a dental surgeon and things are even worse than we thought. All of his remaining teeth are severely infected and he needs all teeth removed. He has oral nasal fistulas from teeth that were previously removed or fell out from infection. This is causing him to have chronic sinus infections.

Poor little guy is just a ball of infection.

We want to get him all patched up but his surgery bill has been quoted at $5,000. We sure could use some help for Milo!

Our best boy Bart has gone and found himself the most wonderful forever home!

Bartholomew represents everything that is good about dogs: he was scarred, he had a rough past, but despite it all, he remained one of the best dogs we have ever met. Wonderful with all people, fantastic with dogs, adaptable to new environments.

In fact, he’s such a great dog that his mom is going to use him as a therapy dog! Imagine that - a dog dumped and discarded in Houston becomes a healer for others going through trauma 🤍🤍

This is why we do what we do. For these happy endings.
