Look at this gorgeous Tityus serrulatus mother caring for her babies! This species is parthenogenetic, meaning it can reproduce without mating—so technically, all of these babies are genetic replicas of their mother.

From the look of their plump little bellies, they may be getting close to their first molt. After molting, they’ll be ready to drop off their mother’s back and begin living independently.

Another cool fact: Tityus serrulatus can be kept communally, so there’s no need to separate the mother from her offspring after they disperse.
