How I determine if I will reproduce out of our own horse stock — Bc we have another Wilbur baby, out of again, another chosen mare of mine making leaps and bounds out in Colorado ☺️

✅ Lame more than not (founder does not factor in this one) But abcess prone will always tell me dont breed that one

✅ Frail / Weak Body Comp at young age (they wont handle a work career early in life meaning you got more years of feed in them before they will earn their keep)

✅ Not an easy keeper (in this world why would anyone want to feed more than they need too)

✅ Weak Guts ( if they can’t handle full feed at a young age you’re just asking for colic prone more than not to any amount of stress) They need to be able to get into feed and have a body that says no more on its own just as they need to get in the trailer and haul straight through across the country before unloading to finally drink.
