If you’re struggling with your dog right now, sometimes the answer isn’t more training; it’s adjusting the training.

Dogs are individuals. What works for one dog may overwhelm another.

Good training is about adapting and adjusting the plan to support the dog in front of you.

Sometimes progress looks like:
• more distance
• lower expectations
• shorter walks
• more rest
• less pressure
• more safety

Training should build trust, not just compliance. ❤️

Would you look at sweet Jake and that frosty mug! He spent two long years waiting in a Florida shelter without anyone choosing him, so brought him to Massachusetts to find his people. I’m smitten with this 9-year-old dreamboat!

Jake loves meeting new people, rides happily in the car, and is always ready for a walk followed by a long stretch of cozy couch time. He’s affectionate, easygoing, and absolutely convinced he belongs as close to his person as possible (preferably leaning on you—or sitting in your lap if you’ll allow it!). He’s housetrained and can relax at home.

He recently enjoyed a field trip to Boston, where he handled all the sights and sounds with curiosity and ease. Did I mention that other dogs are A-okay by Jake?

Jake has some sensitive skin and allergies, which are currently managed well with a prescription diet and medication routine. Now he’s feeling great and ready to focus on finding his forever people.

Here are a few from Tuck, Finch and Idgie’s list: shredding paper, chances to sniff inside the fridge when the door is open, digging in actual dirt, time alone, room to run around, less loud noise, growly play, soft blankets, “legal” objects to chew on, time to lay in the sun, novel experiences, a varied diet, safety from unwanted handling, a predictable home environment, multiple comfortable places to rest.
