Laura's Hope Rescue

Laura's Hope Rescue LHR opened it's doors in 2009 and has since rescued and adopted out over 2300dogs and counting. If you can't adopt try fostering. What's that? No Fears!

We take in all breeds and ages and help turn them into wonderful family pets that anyone would be proud to call one of their family. We are currently in need of other foster families for when are dogs come in. Typically, they are with you anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. In that time, you can teach your temporary companion how to love and trust a person and be the best doggie he/she can be! The rescue

will supply all the dogs needs. You say you can't have dogs where you live but would still like to help out. You can always come up to the rescue and sit and play with the dogs. Or, you could teach them basic commands, proper doggie manners or even teach them to walk nice on a leash. The options are limitless. Any love and compassion you can show these boys and girls will last them a lifetime. Would you like to help in other ways? The rescue is always open to monetary donations or if you'd like, you can pick a specific dog to sponsor until he or she gets adopted. We can give you a weekly update on how he/she is doing, photos included! If you prefer, you can donate supplies too! Leashes and harnesses are always in high demand. So are small area rugs or pillows for our furry friends to sleep on. Whatever it is, know the dogs will love it and be FURever grateful. Where can you see these precious beings? Well check us out at www.Petfinder.com/shelters/PA714.html
Well I'm glad you asked. In order to adopt, after checking out our wonderful dogs, First you need to go online to our petfinder account and fill out an application. Please list 3 personal references and a vet reference. Then expect a call from our adoption coordinator. She will talk to you extensively to make sure you are the right person for the job. When she approves you, come on up to the rescue and meet our dogs. Just know that the one you saw online might not like you and another does. They know what they want. Adoption fees is $300-$400.00 Seniors a donation
All of our furbabies are fully vetted for their age and fixed. They get a clean bill of health before leaving the rescue.

URGENT — A VERY LOVED DOG NEEDS THE RIGHT HOME 💔

This is an incredibly difficult post for a family who has loved their girl dearly for the past six years.

In the home, she is an absolute love. ❤️ She is a couch snuggler, lap dog, movie-watching companion and professional personal-space invader. She has been raised in a home with five children and has spent years playing fetch and tug-of-war with them, giving kisses, dressing up in their costumes and even sleeping in their beds.

Unfortunately, more recently she has developed dog aggression and what may be protective/resource-guarding behavior toward her family.

A recent incident occurred when a gate was accidentally left open. She got out, encountered a neighbor’s dog, and during the incident the neighboring dog and a person were bitten. She is currently completing the required 10-day rabies observation period.

We want anyone considering helping her to know her history honestly so that we can find a home that is both safe and appropriate for everyone involved.

She needs:

🐾 NO other dogs in the home
🐾 An experienced, confident dog owner
🐾 A quiet rural/country setting would be ideal
🐾 A securely fenced yard with responsible supervision
🐾 Someone committed to professional training and management of her dog reactivity/guarding behavior
🐾 She must remain leashed and under control when outside of a securely fenced area
🐾 Because of her recent behavior change, a home without young children would be the safest choice despite her wonderful history with the children she has grown up with

She has many wonderful qualities.

❤️ Crate trained
❤️ Housebroken — she will sit by the door when she needs to go outside
❤️ Knows hand commands for sit, stay and come
❤️ Loves long walks and trails
❤️ Loves squeaky toys
❤️ Loves catching snowballs in the winter
❤️ Has lived around guinea pigs and chickens without concern
❤️ No history of food aggression
❤️ Happy to curl up quietly in her crate while her family is at work

She can become very excited when visitors first arrive and may bark or jump. Her family has successfully managed this by keeping her leashed for the first few minutes while she settles, after which she has been able to greet visitors calmly.

And yes… the unicorn picture says a lot about the girl her family knows. 🦄❤️ The kids have spent years dressing her up, loving on her and making her part of everything they do.

This family is devastated.

They are not looking for just any home. They are looking for that special person who understands dog behavior, has the right environment, and is willing to give her structure, training and a chance.

She cannot simply be placed into another typical neighborhood home or a home with other dogs.

Her family is facing an extremely difficult decision if an appropriate placement cannot be found after her required hold is completed.

🙏 Please share. Even if you cannot take her, the right person may be somewhere in your circle.

Sooo this just happened. Good luck Queenie!Thank you for taking a chance on this beautiful diamond in the “ruff”
