🚨🚨 ATTENTION HORSE LOVERS 🚨🚨
Hi, my name is Justin Preisner.
Some of you may know me, some may not. I’m the son of Jason and Tawnee Preisner, I’ve grown up at Horse Plus, surrounded by horses and many other animals and seen the incredible work being done here.
I didn’t just grow up around horses, I grew up fighting for them since I was a kid. I've been protesting the abuse behind the Tennessee Walking Horse show world. For as long as I can remember, I’ve stood outside the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, holding signs and raising my voice against this horrible “tradition.”
This event showcases a cruel and outdated practice called soring. Trainers apply painful chemicals or use chains and sharp objects on the horses' legs to force them to perform an exaggerated, high-stepping gait called the “Big Lick.”
This isn’t talent or training. It’s pain disguised as performance. And it has to stop.
These horses suffer for entertainment and trophies. I’ve spent more than half my life standing up to this cruelty, and now, I’m asking for your help.
We need YOU to stand with us on August 21, 2025, in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Join our protest. Be a voice for the voiceless. Help us send a message that animal abuse has no place in our world.

🚨URGENT CALL TO ACTION: STAND AGAINST HORSE ABUSE – AUGUST 21, SHELBYVILLE, TN🚨

On August 21st, we’ll be standing outside the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, TN—not to cheer, but to demand an end to one of the most cruel and unnecessary forms of animal abuse still happening today.

🐴 The Truth Behind the “Big Lick”
That high-stepping gait they show off in the ring? It’s not natural. It’s not pretty. It’s pain, disguised as performance.
To get that “look,” trainers use a horrific method called soring—burning horses' legs with chemicals, forcing them to walk in pain using heavy stacked shoes and chains. All so judges will give them a ribbon.
Horses are left suffering in silence behind closed doors, while this show continues to parade cruelty as sport.
Enough is enough.

✊ WHY WE NEED YOU
You might be thinking, “What difference will I make just by showing up?”
The truth? All the difference in the world.
Because every single person who stands with us makes our message louder.
Everybody on that sidewalk sends a message that can't be ignored:
“Big Lick is abuse.”
The more of us who stand together, the harder it is for them to pretend this is okay.
The media starts paying attention. Lawmakers feel the pressure.
Even the people attending the show begin to question what they’re supporting.
There’s power in numbers. Every person who shows up adds volume to our truth:
Big Lick is abuse.
And when we speak that truth with enough voices, things start to change.

You don’t need to be an activist. You don’t need experience.
You just need to care and to show up.
Because if we don’t show up for them, who will?

Horse of the week is Gambler!✨

Gambler is just a lovely mustang gelding with a calm and patient demeanor. When he arrived at our shelter he was halter trained but hard to catch. Since he has entered the training program he has built more confidence and trust and is progressing more and more each day. We look forward to seeing him progress whether that be with us or someone that would be dedicated to work with him!
