THE ADOPTION APPLICATIONS ARE POURING IN! 🫏❤️
What an INCREDIBLE update we have to share!

When we welcomed 100 beautiful wild donkeys — 50 jennies and 50 jacks — into our rescue, we knew we had taken on an enormous responsibility.
But we also knew these precious animals deserved a chance at something wonderful.

And now, we're watching that dream become a reality!
Our team has been busy sorting through adoption applications as people open their hearts and homes to these beautiful donkeys.
And here's the BEST part...

SOME OF OUR DONKEYS ARE ALREADY BEING ADOPTED! 🎉
We've put together a special video showing the applications coming in, our team hard at work reviewing them, and the exciting first steps toward forever homes!

We are absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude.
To everyone who donated to make these rescues possible, everyone who has shared their stories, and every family who has applied to adopt — THANK YOU!
But with 100 donkeys to care for and find homes for, our work is FAR from over.

Every single donkey needs continued feeding, veterinary care, daily attention, and the resources necessary to prepare them for their new lives.
And with many of our 50 jennies potentially pregnant, there could be even more little lives depending on us in the months ahead!
We need your help to finish what we started!

❤️ HELP US CARE FOR THESE 100 DONKEYS AND GET THEM INTO LOVING HOMES!

AND NOW... COULD YOU BE SOMEONE'S FOREVER HOME? 🫏🏡
We are actively accepting and reviewing adoption applications!
If you have the space, experience, and love to give one or more of these beautiful donkeys the life they deserve, we would LOVE to hear from you.

Just imagine...
100 beautiful donkeys who once faced an uncertain future.
Now safe. Now loved. And one by one, beginning their journeys toward forever homes.

THIS is why we do what we do.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary rescue and for helping us give these beautiful animals the futures they deserve!

Meet Dawn! 🌅❤️

This beautiful 2-year-old Quarter Horse mare is looking for a forever home! Dawn has made incredible progress since arriving, and her before-and-after photos speak for themselves! Just look at that beautiful weight she has put on.

Dawn is sweet, not pushy, and can be a little standoffish at first until she learns to trust you. She is halter broke, leads great, and is ready for someone to continue building her confidence and finish out her training.

At just 2 years old, Dawn has so much potential ahead of her! She’s a wonderful prospect for someone willing to invest the time, patience, and love she deserves.

She’s come such a long way, and now it’s time for her next chapter. Let’s find Dawn the forever home she’s been waiting for! Apply to adopt today on horseplus.org/adopt🐴

WE HAVE MADE HISTORY AGAIN!!! 🫏❤️

Just one week after welcoming 50 beautiful wild Jennies to Horse Plus Humane Society, we have officially welcomed 50 MORE WILD BURROS! And we are thrilled to report that every single one has arrived SAFE AND SOUND! 🎉

This time, it's 50 gorgeous GELDED JACKS (males), and just LOOK at these handsome boys!!! 😍
These incredible animals came directly from the BLM through the Sale Authority program, giving them a chance at a wonderful future instead of risking their lives falling into the wrong hands.

100 WILD BURROS. TWO HISTORIC RESCUES. ONE INCREDIBLE WEEK! ❤️
But here's where YOU come in!

Last week, when we announced the arrival of our 50 Jennies, something absolutely amazing happened...
OVER 80 PEOPLE APPLIED TO ADOPT!!! 🤯❤️

That overwhelming response is one of the biggest reasons we were able to say YES to rescuing another 50!
And now, WE NEED 50 MORE AMAZING HOMES FOR THESE HANDSOME BOYS! 🫏🏡

With Christmas right around the corner, can you imagine giving a rescued wild donkey the greatest gift of all? A loving home, a safe pasture, and a family to call their own! 🎄❤️
These boys are wild and will need patience, understanding, and appropriate gentling as they prepare for their new lives. But for the right families, the opportunity to give one of these incredible animals a forever home is truly special.

COULD ONE OF THESE HANDSOME BOYS BE YOUR NEXT BEST FRIEND? 🥹
If you have room in your heart and pasture, we would LOVE for you to apply!

WE ARE JUST HOURS AWAY FROM RESCUING 50 MORE WILD DONKEYS!

Tomorrow morning, another semi-load carrying 50 precious wild burros will arrive at Horse Plus Humane Society!
50 gelded Jacks. 50 lives about to change forever.
And when they step off that trailer, we will have accomplished something truly extraordinary.

100 WILD BURROS RESCUED IN JUST OVER ONE WEEK!

But right now, I am reaching out with one final, urgent plea.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TONIGHT!

Taking in 100 wild donkeys in such a short period of time is an enormous financial undertaking. Veterinary care, feed, shelter, and the daily resources necessary to give these animals a wonderful future all come at a tremendous cost.
We said YES to these animals because we believe their lives are worth saving.

But we are asking for you to consider partnering with us financially tonight! Please make the decision now to get involved with this historic rescue!

Tomorrow, these 50 beautiful animals will be depending on us for absolutely everything.
And tonight, we are depending on YOU.
Will you please make an urgent donation of whatever you can give to help us be ready for their arrival?

❤️ DONATE NOW — WILD BURROS RESCUE FUND:
https://givebutter.com/Wild-Burros-Rescue-Fund

I cannot wait to share the incredible moment these donkeys arrive safely at our shelter.

But before that moment comes, we have a tremendous responsibility to make sure we have everything they need.

THE TRUCK IS COMING. THE DONKEYS ARE COUNTING ON US. AND THE TIME TO HELP IS RIGHT NOW!
Please, be a major part this incredible mission!

10/29/2026

I can hardly believe I am writing this letter to you right now.

Just one week ago, we witnessed the largest donkey rescue in Horse Plus Humane Society's history. 50 beautiful wild Jennies arrived at our shelter, and it was one of the most incredible moments I have ever had the privilege of witnessing.

But what has happened since then has been nothing short of extraordinary.

We have received WELL OVER 80 adoption applications from people wanting to give these precious donkeys loving homes!

The response has been overwhelming. And it has given us the confidence to make a decision that I honestly never imagined we would be making so soon.

TOMORROW MORNING, ANOTHER SEMI-LOAD OF 50 WILD DONKEYS IS COMING TO HORSE PLUS!

That's right. Another 50 wild burros from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This time, they are all gelded Jacks (males).

100 WILD DONKEYS RESCUED IN JUST OVER ONE WEEK!

I want you to think about the magnitude of that for a moment.

One hundred precious lives. One hundred animals who deserve safety, kindness, and the opportunity to have a wonderful future.

But I also want you to understand why this mission is so important, and why I am coming to you today with such an urgent request:

Through the BLM Sale Authority program, wild burros can be sold for as little as $25 each. While there are rules governing these sales, the reality is that these animals can become incredibly vulnerable once they leave federal protection.

And the alternative futures some donkeys face are absolutely horrifying.

Across the world, donkeys are being slaughtered for their hides to produce a gelatin called Ejiao. It is a massive international industry that has devastated donkey populations and created enormous demand for these gentle animals.

Here in the United States, donkeys can also end up moving through livestock auctions and the slaughter pipeline, where their futures become frighteningly uncertain.

I cannot stand the thought of these 50 beautiful animals ever ending up in that situation.

And when we saw the incredible response from people wanting to adopt our first 50 Jennies, we knew we had an opportunity to do something extraordinary.

So, we said YES!
YES to another 50 wild burros.
YES to giving them the chance at a wonderful future.
YES to taking on one of the largest rescue undertakings in our organization's history.

BUT NOW, WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!

Rescuing 50 wild donkeys is not as simple as paying their purchase price and bringing them home.

We have to arrange transportation, safely unload and intake these wild animals, provide appropriate nutrition, veterinary care, and daily shelter operations, and ultimately work to find each of them a loving, permanent home.

And remember, we are already caring for the 50 Jennies who arrived just days ago! The financial responsibility of bringing in another 50 wild burros so quickly is absolutely enormous.

That is why I am personally reaching out to you today.

WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE AN URGENT DONATION TO HELP US RESCUE THESE 50 WILD DONKEYS TOMORROW?

❤️ DONATE TO THE WILD BURROS RESCUE FUND:
https://givebutter.com/Wild-Burros-Rescue-Fund

Whether you can give $25, $50, $100, $250, or more, every single dollar will help us provide the resources these animals need.
I am so incredibly grateful for what our supporters have already made possible. Seeing those first 50 Jennies step off the trailer and into safety was something I will never forget.

And tomorrow, we have the opportunity to experience that moment 50 MORE TIMES.

But please understand something:
THE DONKEYS ARE COMING TOMORROW. WE DON'T HAVE WEEKS TO PREPARE. WE HAVE HOURS.

We have made the commitment to these animals, and now we need partners willing to come forward with financial resources that will help us continue to provide the care they deserve.

We are asking you, from the bottom of our hearts, to please be a part of this historic rescue.

Help us welcome these 50 precious gelded Jacks into safety. Help us provide the care they need. And help us give them the chance at a future they deserve.

100 WILD BURROS. TWO SEMI-LOADS. ONE INCREDIBLE RESCUE MISSION.

Please, if you can, make your donation right now.

Thank you for believing in these animals and for helping us do what once seemed impossible.

🫏 50 WILD BURROS NEED OUR HELP!

10/28/2026

WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN! 50 MORE WILD BURROS NEED OUR HELP THIS FRIDAY! 🚨

Just days ago, we made history at Horse Plus Humane Society when we welcomed 50 beautiful wild burros into our rescue. It was the largest donkey rescue in our organization's history.
And what happened next has been absolutely incredible.

We have already received WELL OVER 80 adoption applications for those precious Jennies!
EIGHTY families and individuals stepping forward, wanting to give these beautiful animals a loving home!

The response has been so overwhelming that we have made a HUGE decision:
WE ARE SAYING YES TO 50 MORE WILD BURROS!

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given us the opportunity to rescue another 50 wild burros, and THEY ARE COMING THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30TH!
This time, they are all GELDED JACKS (MALE BURROS).

50 more lives. 50 more futures. 50 more incredible animals who deserve the opportunity to find loving homes.
But here's the challenge...
WE HAVE JUST DAYS TO RAISE THE FUNDS TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Taking in 50 wild burros at once is an enormous undertaking. Taking in 100 in just over a week is something we have NEVER done before.
These animals will need transportation, feed, veterinary evaluations, shelter, daily care, and everything necessary to help them transition from their lives in the wild to their futures in loving homes.

And while we are absolutely thrilled by the incredible adoption response, those applications don't pay for the enormous costs of getting these next 50 burros safely into our care.
THAT IS WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP RIGHT NOW!

We are asking everyone who can to please make a donation to our Wild Burros Rescue Fund TODAY.
Whether it's $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can give, every donation will help us prepare for these 50 precious animals.
❤️ DONATE NOW TO THE WILD BURROS RESCUE FUND:https://givebutter.com/Wild-Burros-Rescue-Fund

What started as the largest donkey rescue in Horse Plus history is now becoming something even bigger.
100 WILD BURROS. TWO RESCUE MISSIONS. JUST OVER ONE WEEK.

We have an extraordinary opportunity in front of us, but we cannot accomplish this without the financial support to make it happen.

FRIDAY IS ALMOST HERE. THE CLOCK IS TICKING. AND 50 MORE WILD BURROS ARE COUNTING ON US.
Please donate today, share this mission with your friends and family, and help us make history AGAIN!

50 Burros Arrive at Horse Plus! | Horse Shelter Heroes S7 E41

In this episode of Horse Shelter Heroes, 50 BLM burros arrive at the shelter, and some may be carrying new life! We also share two heartwarming adoption appointments, and Jayden introduces us to Memphis, the sweetest dog looking for a second chance!

🤎 Meet Breanna! 🐴

At 22 years old, this sweet Standardbred mare has so much love to give! Breanna has the calmest, sweetest demeanor, and she is truly a pleasure to be around. She stands patiently for her vaccines, does amazing for the farrier, leads beautifully on a lead rope, and is easy to catch out in the field. She isn't pushy, has no lamenesses, and is in amazing shape!

While we haven't ridden Breanna ourselves yet, given her age and calm, willing-to-listen personality, we suspect she may have some riding experience in her past. We can't say for certain, but she certainly has a wonderful temperament that makes her a joy to work with!

Breanna could make a wonderful pasture pet or potentially a riding partner for the right home. ❤️ She deserves to spend her days feeling safe, loved, and appreciated.

We would absolutely love to see Breanna find an amazing forever home where she can enjoy the life she deserves. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl her happily ever after?
