In memory of Peter Zippi, a young man dedicated to the care of animals, The Peter Zippi Fund Memorial Fund was founded in 1977 by Dr. Alice Villalobos. We have helped over 20,000 pets (mostly cats) since then. The Fund is run by wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to help those who can't help themselves. We are focused on both animal rescue and spay/neuter assistance. We rescue abandoned cats

& kittens as well as those that have special needs. We provide them the care they need to be ready for adoption and then find them a new loving home. We also provide assistance for spaying or neutering of domestic and community (i.e. feral) cats, dogs and other animals.

Maisie 🩷 One of our 2019 Peter Zippi kittens, now all grown up. Sadly, her person passed away.

Maisie was the last of the four to be safely found inside the home, but she is now reunited with Alfie, Simba, and Tabitha in foster care.

She can be shy to start, but once she feels safe, she shows her softer side. She is doing well, exploring, and learning that life is steady again.

Maisie is the kind of cat who may need a little patience up front, but she has so much love to give once she knows she’s home.

She is available for adoption consideration. 🐾

Sage is officially adopted! 💛

This lovely little lad has been a volunteer favorite from the start, and it’s easy to understand why. Sage is sweet, social, full of love, and very good at making people fall for him.

Now he’s home with Sawyer and Mallie, where he is already very spoiled and very loved.

This adoption feels extra special because Sage is staying in the extended PZ family. Sawyer is the son of one of our shelter volunteers, which means this sweet boy found not only a wonderful home, but one connected to people who already care deeply about our cats. We truly couldn’t have found a more perfect match for Sage.

Congratulations to Sawyer, Mallie, and Sage on this beautiful next chapter. We can’t wait to see all the love and happiness ahead for him.

Today, a single black kitten was left at our back door taped inside a box with a note asking us to help her.

We understand that people may feel scared, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do when they find a kitten. We also believe the person who left her was trying to get her help. But this is not safe.

A taped box can become dangerous quickly, especially in warm weather. Even with air holes, a kitten can overheat, panic, or be left unseen for too long.

Peter Zippi is a small, managed-intake rescue. We do not have unlimited space, and we cannot safely place an unknown street kitten directly into our general population. Every intake requires planning, quarantine space, medical review, and available care.

Please do not leave animals outside our door, at a veterinary hospital, or anywhere unattended.

If you find a kitten or cat in need, contact us first. We may not always be able to intake immediately, but we can help talk through safe next steps and available resources.

This little one is safe now, and we’re grateful for that. We simply want our community to understand that asking for help gives that animal the best chance of receiving safe, appropriate care.

Exactly one week after Kit-Tea and we're still feeling all the feels. What a lovely afternoon it was! 🫖🐾💛

We spent two hours with fellow cat lovers sharing stories of adoption, rescue efforts big and small, neighbors helping neighbors, and people simply doing what they can. One cat at a time.

We’re so grateful to Caryn Richman for once again bringing Kit-Tea to life, to Rombauer Vineyards for their incredibly generous support, to our volunteers and Board, and especially to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so special.

The impact will continue after the last cup of tea is poured. The support generated through Kit-Tea could fully vet about 15 otherwise healthy rescue cats or help provide about 120 spay/neuter vouchers to make surgery more affordable in our community.

That is what an afternoon together can do. Thank mew! 😻

Trouble update 🧡

Trouble joined the PZ shelter crew on 8/7, which is a big step for any shy cat.

It’s also arguably one of the hardest steps for fosters who have devoted so much time, patience, and love to helping a cat feel safe.

She’s been slowly checking out her community room from the comfort of her kennel, watching what’s happening around her, and becoming a little more curious each day.

Patience is key with Trouble, and we’re proud of every small step she takes.
