Adoption Center Upgrade

Our in-store cat adoption center at the Rivergate PetSmart had a recent upgrade done. We now have a huge, eye-catching new sign and it has been repainted.

We have created a short Amazon wishlist to give our adoptable kitties some fun things to play with while they wait to meet their forever families. Our biggest needs are a new cat tower for the kittens and a sturdy, durable scratching post for the adult cats.

Rivergate PetSmart is open from 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 10-6 on Sundays. You are welcome to stop by anytime during those hours to meet our adoptable kitties. This store is currently completely full with both cuddly kittens and adults.

Meet Flagella!

She is a petite 10 year old Snowshoe mix with stunning blue eyes. Flagella is friendly and affectionate. She is good with other cats and still deciding how she feels about calm dogs.

Flagella was a transfer from Cheatham County Animal Control. Sadly she was surrendered because her owner had a baby and Flagella was not adjusting well to having a new baby in the house. She will be getting bloodwork done and then she will be ready for adoption!

Meet Flint!

She is a beautiful tortie point Siamese girl who is just two years old and has sky blue eyes. Flint was abandoned at an apartment complex in East Nashville. Thankfully a kind neighbor rescued her and connected her with Freedom Farm. Flint is very friendly and affectionate. She would prefer a home with no other pets. Flint is currently at the Madison PetSmart waiting to find her forever family!

Foster Needed!

These adorable babies were found abandoned by their mother yesterday in Hermitage. They are about 3-4 weeks old and are able to eat canned kitten food mixed with KMR on their own. There are three calico girls, all with different faces, and one spotted boy. They will need a foster until they are 12 weeks old and big enough for spay and neuter. Please comment or send us a message if you are willing to foster them. Kitten food and KMR can be provided.

Meet Scooter!

He has an amazing rescue story! According to people at the park, he was dumped at Cedar Hill Park in Madison four days ago. He has been running in front of cars and sitting in the road, but by some miracle, he survived.

After seeing a post about him being terrified and hard to catch on Facebook, his foster mom grabbed a cat trap and invited Rory to help rescue the dog.

When they found the dog, Rory was amazing! He wagged at the dog and it came right over to sniff hello. It followed him to the trap and sniffed the food. Rory made a big show of acting like "Wow, that food smells really good! I wish Mom would let me go in that trap..". Eventually his efforts paid off and the dog went into the trap!

Scooter is a young male Yorkie mix. He was terrified and exhausted at first but he is feeling safer now. He was not microchipped but was wearing a collar. He has been reported as a found dog to Metro Animal Control because the person that dumped him may not have been his owner. If he is not reclaimed, he will get updated vet care and will then be available for adoption. He will definitely need a securely fenced yard.

Rory is very proud of himself for helping rescue his new doggie friend. He definitely believes in paying it forward!

Adoption Update!

Rory has finally found the perfect forever home! When he was first brought inside during the ice storm, all of the cats in his foster home surrounded him, sniffed him and loved on him. These cats normally keep some distance from a new dog at first, but from the moment they met him, they knew that he was family. 🥰

He has gone from a terrified fear-aggressive dog who growled at strangers to a happy boy who is excited and does his spinning happy dance when visitors come to the house.

Rory is now in training to become a therapy dog so he can visit people in places like schools or hospitals. Rory is very smart and has already learned "sit" and "down".

He loves all of his kitty friends and is even happy sharing his new home with an occasional foster dog like Teddy. Rory says that he doesn't have a foster mom anymore. He just has a mom. Rory normally just does his happy dance when he thinks food is involved, but when she asked him if he would like to stay with her and his kitty friends forever, he started spinning with joy.

Haley and Hannah say that being a mom is a tough job but it's a lot easier when you are safe inside laying in a comfy cat bed! Haley and Hannah would like to say a huge thank you to all of the kind people who donated. We received 6 cases of kitten food, 2 big bags of Purina Kitten Chow and two big bags of litter. That was enough food to cover both families for several weeks and even help feed a couple of orphan babies too!

Tina is a gloriously fluffy tuxedo girl who doesn't understand why no one wants to adopt her. She is 12 years old and is very loving and affectionate. She does take a small dose of a liquid thyroid medication twice a day, but she is the easiest cat to medicate. Her medication only costs $26/month.

Tina is bonded with her sister, Hazel, so they do need to be adopted together. Hazel is a grey tabby who is even more affectionate than Tina. These sweet girls have had recent healthy bloodwork and our vet said that they are in great shape for their age. They need a home with no other cats or dogs. If you have room in your heart and home for kitty cuddles x 2, please let us know!
