Texas Tom is already feeling better this morning. He's not itchy anymore from fleas, is eating and drinking well and thoroughly enjoyed a Churu and some tasty canned food.

Texas Tom Needs Help!

Meet Texas Tom! He is a very friendly and affectionate solid black FIV positive cat who lived his first ten years as an outside cat in Texas. Thankfully a local rescue took him in, got him neutered and vaccinated. They even paid for a dental with extractions.

CASA Transport was organizing a dog transport from Texas to Tennessee and they had room for just one cat. Texas Tom was chosen because he was a shelter favorite and most deserving of a great new home.

Texas Tom spent several months in foster care getting lots of attention and even starring in his own music video to try to help him get a home for Christmas. Finally he was adopted to what seemed like a great home in 2023.

Sadly, that was not the case. Yesterday Texas Tom was surrendered to Montgomery County Animal Control by a concerned neighbor who found him wandering outside alone in the terrible heat. We don't know how long he was struggling outside on his own.

His once bright, mischievous eyes now look so sad. He has bare patches from fleas in his coat and his ears looking ragged from scratching. He feels painfully thin. For now, he is being kept in isolation while he is treated for fleas, dewormed and gaining weight from eating high quality food.

Texas Tom will need another FIV/leukemia test, a rabies shot and a senior panel. If you are interested in donating toward his vet care, please see the link below where you can donate with PayPal or credit card. Texas Tom would also appreciate prayers that his health is relatively ok and that he remains leukemia-negative.

Dora finally had her vet visit today and she was a superstar! After a month in isolation to calm down, Dora was scared and liked having her blanket on top of her, but she had no problem getting through an exam, vaccines, blood draw for senior panel and a urine draw. She didn't hiss or cry once and even started purring halfway through. We will wait on her test results for now, but she has definitely come a long ways in just a month!

🐾 Meet Manning! 🐾

Manning is a handsome 2-year-old Bernedoodle who is looking for a family to call his own. ❤️ Manning came to us as an owner surrender, and while we may not know exactly why, we do know one thing for sure—this boy is pretty wonderful!

Manning is great with other dogs and loves being around his people. He would do best in a home without cats, simply because he is VERY interested in them. 😅

He’s doing great with his housetraining and has an impressive love of food! 🍽️ He enjoys going outside, but he doesn’t want to stay out there too long. Why would he when he could be inside with his people?

Manning is still working on his leash skills, so his new family will need to be patient while he learns. He also has a nervous stomach, so he’ll need some time to adjust to his new surroundings and routine. A little patience and consistency will go a long way.

And one of Manning’s favorite things? Sleeping in bed with his people! 🥰 Don’t worry—he’s not a bed hog. He knows how to share!

Manning is a sweet, lovable guy who is ready for a family willing to give him the time, patience, and love he deserves. We think once he settles in, he’s going to make someone a wonderful companion. ❤️

Manning’s wish list:
🐾 A loving forever family
🐾 A home without cats
🐾 Patience while he adjusts
🐾 Someone willing to continue working on his leash skills
🐾 Lots of love, snacks, and maybe a spot in the bed! 🛏️

Could Manning be your next best friend? ❤️

🐾💕 Meet Lakota! 💕🐾

Lakota’s story could have ended very differently. At only about 10 weeks old, this tiny girl was in the middle of a dangerous road when cars were driving over her. 💔

Thankfully, a kind man saw what was happening, stopped traffic, and risked his own safety to get her out of the road. Because he stopped to help, Lakota got a second chance. 🥹❤️

We named her Lakota, a name connected with friendship, unity, and being an ally — and she has certainly found her way into our hearts.

Lakota wasn’t spayed when she came to us, but she is now spayed, happy, healthy, and READY FOR ADOPTION! 🎉🐱

This little survivor deserves a forever home where she’ll always be safe, loved, and cherished. 🏡💗

Could you be the forever family Lakota has been waiting for? 🐾💕

Every dog deserves to spend their golden years surrounded by love. ❤️🐾

Today we wanted to share with you to two very special members of the Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary family—our hospice fosters, Sara Jane and Teddy.
Sara Jane is 16 years old and came back to us when her mom's health declined and she could no longer care for her. At her age, we knew she deserved the comfort and security of a forever home, not another transition. Today, she's thriving, loves running around the backyard, and is enjoying every day.
Teddy also joined our program as a 16-year-old senior with congestive heart failure. Because of his condition, procedures like a dental and neuter aren't recommended. Instead, we're managing his heart disease with medication and making sure every day is filled with comfort, love, and happiness.
Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary is a foster-based rescue, and part of our mission is giving senior and hospice animals the chance to live out their lives knowing they are safe, cherished, and never alone. And still playing:)
Thank you to every foster, volunteer, and supporter who makes stories like Sara Jane's and Teddy's possible. They may be in their golden years, but they're still living their best lives. 💕🐶

Beautiful Tortie Return

Meet Tinkerbell! She is a lovely 8 year old tortie girl who is feeling sad right now because she misses her owner. 🙁 Her name was originally Anya and she was adopted from Freedom Farm in 2019.

Her owner loved her very much and took her regularly to a local high quality veterinarian for the first five years. But then things got more difficult financially and he could not afford to take her in for vaccines. Then things got so hard for her owner that they lost their home. He returned her to Freedom Farm because he knew that he could no longer give her a safe home.

Sometimes good people fall on hard times, but we are glad that her owner did the right thing and returned her to Freedom Farm. We will always take our animals back if needed. Tinkerbell is going to our vet tomorrow and we will post an update when she is feeling better.

We wanted to introduce everyone to Matthew, one of the newest members of the Freedom Farm family!
Matthew showed up at one of our volunteer's workplace looking for help. We searched for his family, checked for a microchip, and completed the required stray hold, but sadly no one came forward to claim him.
Now it's Matthew's turn for a fresh start. Next up is a trip to the vet for his vaccinations, microchip and neuter, and then he'll be one step closer to finding his forever home.
In the meantime, Matthew has made one thing very clear—he absolutely loves drinking water out of the faucet.
Please help us welcome Matthew to Freedom Farm and stay tuned for updates on this sweet boy's journey! ❤️🐶

The Teenies are now 10 weeks old! They are still small for their age, but are now about 1.5 lbs each. They are fully litter trained now and very fat and healthy despite their size. They will be attending our adoption event on July 25th and will be ready for adoption in August.

Looking for a cat with lots of personality?

Meet Bogie and Birdie! They are a pair of 4 year old siblings who were reluctantly surrendered because their owner had to move out of state and could not bring them with him.

Bogie is a handsome grey and white tabby who is looking fiercely handsome in his little bow tie. Birdie is a grey and white tabby girl who is more calm and cuddly.

Bogie and Birdie have had recent healthy exams and updated vaccines. They can be adopted separately. Bogie and Birdie are currently at the Madison PetSmart and would love for you to stop by and meet them. They are good with other cats and would most likely do fine with a calm dog or older children, with a little time to adjust.
