Animal Ark is a Minnesota-based animal welfare organization. We embrace and follow a no-kill philosophy in our work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Minnesota’s lost and homeless companion animals. With staff providing basic medical care and keeping of our shelter animals, a dedicated group of volunteers provides the next level of care, making the rehabilitation of these wonderful animals possi

ble. Our volunteers provide needed socialization for the companion animals living at the shelter, focusing on the needs of the individual animal based on his or her personality. EVEREST: A MOUNTAIN OF LOVE WAITING TO BE FOUND
My name is Everest, a 4-year-old brown tabby girl with soft eyes, a quiet spirit, and a story that feels a little like a fairy tale written in snow.
I was found wandering outside, carrying the marks of a hard winter. The cold took the tips of both my ears, leaving me with a tiny “winter crown” that makes me wonderfully, unmistakably me.
For two months, a kind woman gave me shelter in her garage. She offered food, warmth, soft words, and patience. Slowly, I remembered that the world could be gentle.
I’m still shy at first, but there is magic in watching me unfold. Speak softly and I come closer. Offer your hand and I lean into it. Give me time, and you’ll discover the playful, affectionate soul hidden beneath my cautious exterior.
My past with dogs, cats, and children is unknown, but I would thrive in a quiet home, perhaps with respectful older children, where I can feel safe and unhurried.
I don’t need a grand adventure anymore.
I’m looking for a warm sunny window, a peaceful room, and someone who understands that the rarest treasures are not always found quickly.
Sometimes, the most magical journey is not climbing Everest.
It’s being the person who helps Everest finally come home.

Jax: Long Legs, Big Heart, Ready to Run Home to You
Seriously, everyone… how am I still looking for my family?
I’m Jax, a 7-year-old Shepherd mix with legs for days and a personality just as big. I’m the kind of guy who believes the best things in life are pretty simple: a good cuddle, a fun game, a dog buddy to hang out with, and people to love with my whole heart.
I’ve happily lived with little kids ages 2, 3, and 4, and I’ve shown everyone what a gentle, patient sweetheart I can be. I also do great with other dogs, whether we’re playing, relaxing together, or heading out to explore. Cats are still a mystery to me since I haven’t had the chance to meet any yet.
Now, I should probably confess one tiny thing about myself: I have a bit of an adventurous streak. If a door swings open and nobody’s paying attention, I may think, “Well, this looks like the perfect time for an expedition!” I’m not trying to run away, I’m just curious about what’s out there. A fenced yard and a family who keeps an eye on open doors would help keep my adventures safely at home.
What I really want, though, isn’t another adventure. It’s my family.
Someone to laugh at my goofy side, cuddle with me at the end of the day, take me along for life’s little adventures, and love me as much as I’ll love them.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving companion who might steal your heart, and occasionally try to sneak through an open doorway, I just might be your guy.

Happy Adoption Day, Kara!

Sweet Kara, our beautiful German Shepherd girl, came to Animal Ark under heartbreaking circumstances after her owner passed away. From the moment she arrived, she carried herself with quiet grace; hopeful, gentle, and ready to find another family who would cherish her as deeply as she deserved.

Today, we are overjoyed to share that Kara has found exactly that. Her new family had been searching for a dog just like her, and the moment they met, it was clear it was the perfect match.

David’s journey began with a hard start: a tiny kitten found all by himself, unsure of the world but full of quiet hope. A dedicated foster stepped in, giving him the care, comfort, and confidence he needed to grow strong.

When he was ready, David came to the shelter for his chance at forever and today, we get to celebrate that his chance became reality. He’s been adopted into a loving home where he’ll be cherished for life.

Tiny Scarlett arrived as an abandoned pup, unsure of the world but full of quiet hope. Staff fell in love with her immediately and one team member couldn’t resist offering her a safe, loving foster home.

That foster home soon became something more. As Scarlett grew, so did the bond, and it became clear she was already right where she belonged. Today, we’re thrilled to share that her foster has officially become her forever.

Today, we get to celebrate the happiest chapter of their story. A wonderful family fell in love with both of them and opened their home to double the sweetness and double the joy. Flo and Mayhem will spend the rest of their lives together, safe, adored, and exactly where they belong.
