💙🐾 Today is a day worth celebrating. 🐾💙
After years of dedication, advocacy, and hard work by veterinary technicians, educators, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, and so many others, July 1 marks a historic milestone for our profession.
Minnesota's Certified Veterinary Technicians are now officially Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs).
This isn't just a change in letters after a name. It's recognition of a profession built on education, skill, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to animal health. Veterinary technicians complete rigorous education, pass a national board examination, and continue their education throughout their careers. They are highly trained medical professionals whose knowledge and expertise are essential to every veterinary team.
At Hastings Veterinary Clinic, we see that dedication every single day. Our LVTs are the calm voices reassuring worried pet owners, the skilled hands monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery, the critical thinkers running diagnostics and caring for hospitalized patients, and the compassionate hearts advocating for every animal that comes through our doors.
While today's change won't alter the compassionate care our patients receive, it does bring long-overdue recognition to the professionals who have been providing that exceptional care all along.
