Elvis and I went for a light run (we’ll jog for him) before his buddy Cooper arrives. Even at this pace, when my feet stop he goes into a sit.

After a proper introduction was done with Cooper and Elvis I decided to do a group session with the two of them. Remember this is the first time these two males have ever been together. When expectations and boundaries are set early this can be the result.

Cooper, a 1.5 year old, male, Labrador Retriever, started his modified 15 day Day Training Program today. Cooper previously went through (2) days of training with us followed by (2) 1:1 Private Sessions with his owner. This was to get a jump start on his training until we could get him in. Such a beautiful boy!!

Elvis was placed in a “down and hold” position in the far back portion of the yard. He held this position regardless of distractions (me throwing a toy, Kora going after it) until a recall was given. He responded perfectly and loves the reward session.

This was a video from yesterday and we started to work on Elvis’s recall while being distracted. The first recall two light corrections had to be given, the second time only one, and then every time after no corrections were needed. Negative reinforcement for negative behavior followed by positive reinforcement once they respond correctly/ positive reinforcement for correct behavior.
