We love our boarding visitors as if they were our very own. ❤️ When one of them passes, it hurts just as deeply as losing a part of our own pack, and our hearts ache so much for their families.

We have technically been boarding for over 10 years, and in that time, we have had the privilege of caring for so many amazing kiddos. We remember every single one who has spent time with us here at the farm. Some of our longest and most memorable visitors have crossed that rainbow bridge, but they will never be forgotten. Each one has left a paw print on so many hearts here at Shannon Farmz. 🐾❤️

Yesterday, we said goodbye to sweet Penny. 🌈🐾

Penny was an old girl, but you would never have known it by watching her. She was always so bright, happy, and active, and she was always ready for mealtime — especially when Mom brought her fresh-made food. Those little things are the memories we hold onto.

Sweet Penny, you were loved here. You were part of our farm family every time you came through our doors, and you always will be.

Run free, sweet girl. Give all the others some big hugs for us when you get there. 🌈🐾❤️

Sending the biggest hugs to Mom and Penny’s entire family. We are so incredibly sorry for your loss. Please know that Penny was loved, remembered, and cherished here, too.

Please keep your rescue and shelter folks in your thoughts and prayers. Some days are easier than others, but the truth is, there is never a day that isn’t emotional, exhausting, and challenging for the people doing this work.

Behind every rescue, shelter, foster, and animal advocate is a human being carrying a lot—sometimes more than anyone realizes. We celebrate the happy endings, but we also carry the heartbreak, the hard decisions, the losses, the animals we couldn’t save, and the ones still waiting for their chance.

So check in on your people. ❤️
Send a message. Make a phone call. Say “Hi, I was thinking about you.”

You don’t have to fix anything. You don’t have to have the perfect words.

Sometimes just knowing someone cares can make all the difference.

Be kind. Give grace. Check on your people. And remember that the people fighting for the animals need someone in their corner, too. 🐾💙

Don’t forget we have eggs. When you grab your kiddos from the farm after your trip be sure to pick up a couple dozen eggs on your way home.

🐔🥚 We Have More Than Dogs at the Farm! 🐐🐴🐈

We’re a full-blown running farm around here—with chickens, goats, barn cats, horses, a donkey, oh my! And today, we’re talking about our girls! ❤️

We currently have 30+ hens who are working hard to earn their keep by providing us with some seriously yummy farm-fresh eggs! 🥚👑

We absolutely LOVE this breed of hen. They are hardy, tough, productive girls that can hold their own in a free-range environment. They lay throughout the year, and some of our younger girls are just getting started. Their eggs may be a little smaller right now, but they’re getting bigger every day!

Our hens are:
🌾 Fed 18% protein Shawnee feed
💧 Provided clean, fresh water at all times
☀️ Free-range and allowed to enjoy farm life
🥚 Producing fresh, healthy eggs for your family

Our eggs are unwashed and refrigerated, which helps them stay fresh longer.

And the best part… only $3 a dozen! 🙌

They definitely don’t last long, so contact Shannon BEFORE heading to the farm to reserve yours and make sure we still have some available!

We have a couple of our rescue kiddos who get the opportunity to hang out with our boarding buddies when we have the space—and Pretty is one of those lucky girls! 🥰🐾

She is such a good girl and an absolutely wonderful friend to everyone she meets. Pretty loves having canine friends to play with and hang out alongside, and she fits right in with the crew. Her sweet personality makes her a favorite, and she seems to genuinely enjoy every new friend that comes her way. ❤️

She may have limited vision, but that certainly doesn’t stop Pretty from enjoying life or making friends! She just does things her own way—and we think that’s pretty darn perfect. 💜🐶

Pretty is one of our longtime rescue kiddos, and she has been with us since February 2025—simply because, for no reason other than circumstances, she hasn’t found her forever home yet. ❤️

She has been to events, met humans both big and small, and absolutely loves everyone she meets! She’s just one of those sweet girls who seems to have never met a stranger.

Pretty is a little visually impaired, but that doesn’t slow this girl down one bit! Her doctor believes her vision impairment is genetic. She can see fairly normally for about three feet in front of her nose, but beyond that, she relies more on her peripheral vision to the sides. It can make her look a little cross-eyed sometimes, but around here, we say that just gives our girl even more character! 🥰

She’s playful, affectionate, incredibly sweet, and perfectly capable of enjoying life to the fullest. She loves hanging out with her friends, soaking up the sunshine, and when playtime is over, she’s more than happy to claim a comfy couch and settle in for some serious cuddle time. ❤️🐾

Pretty is such a special girl, and we would absolutely love to see her get the forever family she deserves. Until then, she’ll continue being Pretty—living her best life and reminding everyone that having a little extra character is never a bad thing. 💜
