Hey friends,
Let’s talk about something we all face eventually (insert shocked gasp here) 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳
Whether you walk on two legs or four, age catches up with us all.

Hygiene and haircuts are still important, but how we approach them changes. Bodies don’t move the way they used to. Joints ache, energy dips, and what was once a fun trip to the beauty parlor can feel overwhelming. Standing too long is hard. New people are exhausting. And the sparkle just isn’t the same.

So what can we do?
Well...if you’ve only got two legs, that’s a conversation for a different kind of professional 😅

But today, I got to love on sweet Charlotte.
She needed a fresh start, but came with some challenges. She has a heart condition and a birth defect called spider legs. This has likely caused her early arthritis and joint pain. Her coat was matted, her body uncomfortable.

With slow, gentle hands, I removed her coat. A warm bath, a soft blow dry, and lots of loving words, she was clean, content, and cozy. No fancy finish work. No scissored legs or dramatic lashes. But every moment was focused on 𝙝𝙚𝙧 comfort, not perfection.

This groom won’t win any competitions. It won't gain me a large social media presence for my exceptional detail work.
But it’s one I’m just as proud of as any show groom with ribbons or trophies or checks.

Because this—𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴—is why I became a groomer.
To help pets feel better, not just look better. And as many of my longtime clients know, I will always end a session early or decline a groom entirely if it’s not in the best interest of the animal.

I’m extensively trained in the handling and care of senior and special needs pets. Years ago, I made a promise: 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚—and that is a promise I keep every single day.

Schnauzers are one of my absolute favorite breeds to groom. Terriers as a whole have my heart. I started learning advanced grooming techniques on a Border Terrier in 2019, and I’m proudly owned by a West Highland White Terrier. There’s just something special about those textured coats, bold personalities, and classic trims.

I had an incredible time at yesterday’s ribbon cutting! A heartfelt thank you to the Harrah Chamber of Commerce for such a warm and welcoming celebration. And I think we can all agree, a HUGE thank you to Jennys Baked Goods for the beautiful cupcakes! I’m beyond excited to see this little dream of mine begin to grow right here in our community.

It was a joy to share a glimpse into my world with you all. Pet grooming is so much more than a career for me, it’s been my passion for the last 15 years. During that time, I’ve devoted myself to ongoing education, advanced training, and staying up to date with the latest industry developments. From breed-specific grooming techniques to skin and coat health, I’m constantly learning so I can provide the highest level of care to every pet that comes through my door. As our understanding of animal sciences and pet care continues to grow, I aim to offer Harrah a level of service that blends heart, skill, and modern best practices.

Harrah may be a small town, but the love we have for our pets is anything but, and their care should reflect that.
