‼️So many have been asking about Miss Fern…
Well…still no babies. So Fern and 2 other does, Pie and Violet, we couldn’t catch in heat last year to breed. So when it came to breeding again in the fall I was determined to get the three of them bred this year. So anytime I saw the slightest signs of them possibly being in heat, I put them with a buck.
So we have a few possible breeding dates for these girls. But what led me to think that fern was going to have babies last weekend or this week was because her udder really popped fast (and the other two does had not yet) and she’s one of those goats whose ligaments are hard to tell on. So to be safe I was putting her in the kidding stall because it’s been cold at night and if she had her babies during the night they likely wouldn’t make it without heat. So at this point if her due date was the sixth or the eighth, and then we gave her an extra couple days because sometimes they do go a few days after she would have likely had the babies at least by today and we have not had any more changes now really since the weekend. So I do believe that all three of the dose are due on the 23rd, which is their last breeding date. So it’s gonna be a fun week that week with lots of babies being born 😅
