Our mission is simple- find them the loving family they deserve. Founded in 1966 on compassion as a Non-Profit 501 (c) (3), NEMO Humane Society currently cares for the lost, stray, injured, neglected and unwanted animals of five counties which include Marion, Ralls, Monroe, Shelby and Lewis. The Northeast Missouri Humane Society is committed to investing their expertise and resources in order to f

urther achieve their cause. Their mission is to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty, and overpopulation of domestic animals, to provide a network service to the lost or homeless, and to educate the public on problems that matter. They exist to make a difference. Each year they care for nearly 2000 homeless pets from the Northeast Missouri area. NEMOHS continues to have a contract with the City of Hannibal to provide a home for strays picked up by the city's Animal Control. The staff and board members take their responsibility very seriously, and appreciate the support of the community. Just imagine what we can achieve together! The possibilities are endless.

🐾 LOW-COST CAT SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC & TNVR PROGRAM AT NEMOHS 🐾

Did you know that just one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce HUNDREDS of kittens in just a few years? 😮

That is why the NEMOHS proudly offers BOTH a Low-Cost Cat Spay & Neuter Clinic and a Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) Program to help make a lasting impact in our community. We can’t wait for you to meet Dr. Jodi!

🏡 Have community cats in your neighborhood? Our TNVR Program can help!

Since 2020, NEMOHS has partnered with the local community to humanely address free roaming cat populations through Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return. Cats are safely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped for identification, then returned to the area they call home. TNVR is widely recognized as the most effective and compassionate way to stabilize outdoor cat colonies, reduce nuisance behaviors and spraying and prevent the endless cycle of unwanted litters.
