In January, Winona—now lovingly called Winnie—found her forever home, and she has been the perfect addition to her family. ❤️

Her family shared:

“Winnie is the sweetest girl and loves everyone. She has helped me through some health issues by getting me walking twice a day. She won’t let me skip our morning or evening walks and always ‘reminds me’ when it’s time to go.

Thank you for my best friend, my shadow, my fitness buddy, and my source of joy every day. Thank you for being a wonderful organization and caring for animals.” ♥️

A huge thank you to our longtime friend and supporter, Fergthebikedude, for stopping by with a generous monetary donation to help care for the animals at Animal Friends Humane Society. We are so grateful for your continued kindness and support!

Pictured with Ferg is Flash, one of our longest residents, who has been patiently waiting for his forever home since November 28th. 💔

Flash is almost 4 years old and is an incredibly sweet, loving boy who deserves a family to call his own. Every day, he waits hopefully for someone to choose him.

🐾 Meet Pixie! 💕🐶

Looking for a fun-sized best friend with a playful spirit and endless kisses? Pixie might just be your perfect match!

At 1 year old and 15 pounds, Pixie is full of personality. She can be a little shy when things are loud or moving quickly, and the busy shelter environment can feel overwhelming. Big noises and sudden movements may cause her to freeze or hit the deck, but once she's away from the kennels, her sweet and playful side quickly shines through.

Pixie absolutely ADORES toys—if it squeaks, bounces, or rolls, she's ready to play! When playtime is over, she's happiest curled up in your lap, covering you with kisses.

She enjoys gentle treats (just make sure they're in small pieces!) and takes them very politely. She's also happy to be petted all over and doesn't mind having her ears, paws, or tail handled.

Leashing can be a bit of a game because Pixie gets so excited she'll dodge the leash at first, but with patience and consistency, she'll continue to build confidence.

Meet Captain!

Captain came to us as a senior stray. He has clearly lived most of his years outside and has had a rough go at life. While being treated for a pretty bad upper respiratory infection, he tested positive for FIV. While doing an exam to see how Captain's treatment was going, the medical team noticed he was missing most of his teeth, and the rest were in horrible condition. Now, Captain has had a dental and is toothless! He's 12 years old, 8 and half pounds, and neutered.

Because of his past, Captain is still learning to like people. He got plenty of love and socialization while on his course of treatment and is slowly but surely coming around. He can be wary of touch, but once you've got him, he loves to be held. Under his tough exterior is a boy that just wants patience while he settles into a home for the rest of his years. Captain has also taken to the litterbox very well! He may have an occasional accident while learning a new space and routine, but has proven to be a quick learner.

In the shelter, Captain has shown no aversion to other cats. He will most likely be a coexister in a home environment but would likely prefer no rambunctious roommates (other older cats, children over 10 years old).

If you have a calm home and plenty of love and patience, Captain would love to meet you. Come see him today and give him his second chance!

🐾 Dog Date Chronicles: Tuesday 🐾

Tuesday recently got to enjoy a much-deserved break from shelter life, and she proved what an incredible companion she is!

This sweet 3-year-old, 40-pound, spayed female spent about 1½ hours out on the town, including a car ride and lunch—and she was an absolute star from start to finish.

Tuesday was a wonderful passenger, riding calmly in the car and enjoying every minute of the adventure. Out in public, she was incredibly well-behaved, greeting everyone she met with a friendly, happy attitude. She handled the outing with ease and didn't have a single struggle.

Her dog date described her as:
❤️ Calm
❤️ Snuggly
❤️ Well-mannered
❤️ Social butterfly
❤️ Happy

While she didn't meet any children, dogs, or cats during her outing, she showed everyone just how easy and enjoyable she is to spend time with.

Tuesday is ready to trade dog dates for forever days with a family of her own.
