Cats and dogs of the Caribbean. What we have learned: there are a lot of animals living on the street, as they say. Some are cared for by local people, some are actually owned by someone. Others hang out at business, restaurants, beaches etc and some are very comfortable being around people. There are caring individuals and rescue organizations that run on limited budgets (as a lot do), with little or no local and government support. As a "tourists" we feel a bit helpless because we are passing through. BUT, we can help by donating to local rescues, volunteer for an afternoon by walking a dog, playing with puppies, etc. Or become a flight buddy, which means you tell the rescue your travel plans to fly home and they may be able to pair you with a dog that needs a companion on a flight. There are always a way to help.
