✨MEET OUR NEW VETERINARIAN✨

You may have seen a friendly new face around the hospital these past few weeks so we figure it’s high time we *hard launch* and go Facebook official!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Molly Huysman to our Guilford Animal Medical Center team! 🎉

📚Dr. Huysman earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Connecticut College. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University (Go Bulldogs!). This path led Dr. Huysman to work in breast cancer research where her time spent with the lab animals sparked her real passion - veterinary medicine 🐾

🩺Dr. Huysman went back to school at Long Island University, earning her DVM. GAMC had the good fortune of hosting Dr. Huysman for some of her clinicals last year and we just knew we had to have her on our team.

Dr. Huysman has a special interest in behavior and looks forward to helping pets and their families build stronger bonds 💕

Please join us in giving Dr. Huysman (said like the Heisman trophy) a very warm welcome! We’re so happy you’re here! 🤩

We usually try to keep our posts on the lighter side, but today our hearts are heavy. A local veterinarian, Dr. Nick Naoumides, the owner and sole doctor at Heritage Animal Hospital in Wallingford - the vet who cared for my childhood pets - has suffered a devastating house fire. The fire (you may have seen the news out of Cheshire) claimed the life of his son, Zack, and dog, Paige. Dr. Nick is currently hospitalized. In addition to the unimaginable personal loss, he also lost his home, all of his possession, and is now unable to work - leaving his veterinary practice temporarily closed and his patients without their doctor.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Dr. Nick’s daughter to support him through this incredibly difficult time.

If you can’t donate, please leave your words of love and encouragement. It takes a village.

Last night around 3am my childhood home went up in flames. My… Alyssa Naoumides needs your support for Help Dr. Naoumides bury son and rebuild after tragic fire

Roxy Mama is proof we don’t deserve dogs. Look at this sweet, silly lady making friends all around the clinic today (both human and stuffed 🥹)! Roxy Mama is a happy, curious girl - and YOU could be her new person! Roxy Mama is available for adoption through Army’s Legacy Animal Rescue And Sanctuary, Inc. - she is bonded with her brother Max so they do need to be placed together 🐾

AMAZING job, Gille! This pup is a local hero 🥰🐾

On July 22 2025, Bloodhounds from the Connecticut State Police were requested to a Glastonbury residence to assist in locating a missing female with Alzheimers who had walked away from her residence.
After another K-9 track had come up with negative results, K-9 Gille of Troop E was cast in the area of her residence. K-9 Gille began to track northwest along some trails and powerlines northwest of the residence.
After tracking for 2.7 miles, K-9 Gille located the female stuck in a swampy area of a reservoir with a laceration to her leg and was unable to walk.
Troopers on scene guided memebers of Glastonbury Fire Department to the female and were able to safely transport her from the woods and to a local hospital for treatment.
