🐐🦒 Keeper Week Spotlight: Meet Keeper Morgan! 🦒🐐
🐐 Today we're celebrating Keeper Morgan, our amazing Keeper 3 here at Keystone Safari! Morgan has been part of our keeper family for nearly 2.5 years, and her passion for animal conservation shines through in everything she does.
🐐 Her favorite animals? While our majestic giraffes will always hold a special place in her heart, she adores working with our goats—each one full of personality! Morgan especially loves kidding season, when she gets to be there from the very beginning as baby goats grow from shy little ones to playful, energetic kids in just a matter of days.
🐐 Morgan says: “I have always been big on animal conservation and wanting to provide a better world for our animals to thrive in and I would have to thank Steve Irwin for creating that spark. He had inspired me to want to become a keeper, so that way I could help with the conservation of many different species since zoos help a lot with that, whether it’s in the form of education, wildlife rehabilitation programs, or even special breeding programs to help the animals population and genetic diversity grow in the wild.”
🐐 Morgan carries with her the wisdom from where she had done her college internship at. The owner, Kristen Beck, had once told her that “you can tell a lot by just looking at the eyes of an animal.” As she’s grown in her career she couldn’t agree more with that statement.
🐐 “It doesn’t matter if the animal is brand new or if you’ve been working with them for a while, that’s one of the main ways animals communicate to us, you can tell if they’re not feeling well, in pain from an injury, their trust level with you, etc. With being an animal care provider we all have that special “gift” that comes naturally to us and as we grow in our careers that “gift” grows with us.”
Be sure to give Morgan a wave next time you visit! 👋💚
