PUPDATE on stray dog running the bird sanctuary woods Sunday to Monday. It is clear someone dumped him. Unfortunately, we will not have the benefit of knowing any of his history, if he had vaccinations, deworm, heartworm preventative. We won’t know if he was loved. Or if he was simply discarded and had zero value to the person who kept him previously…and then let him out of the vehicle to fend for himself in the very wet, tick-infested, coyote-hunting-ground woods on the north end. Running so scared he could not be caught by the good samaritans who tried. We won’t know what he likes, doesn’t like, what scares him, what brings him joy. But you can be assured that we have a kennel crew here at GI Animal Shelter that is dedicated to his care. We will find his best life, guardians, and furever family for him. We have gained his trust. Not entirely. Our friend and fabulous trainer Wendy Bemis is helping us to help him. Next week he will meet our Vet and the amazing staff at Cahill and get a start on basic care and preventatives. No, it’s not cheap. If you can’t afford the basics, please don’t get a dog. Spay/neuter is not a philosophy. It’s a necessity. It’s a gift to your pets. It’s the responsible thing to do. We are glad we have him. He’s going to get it all and then some. This is Thor. Aka, Buddy. Please send him your good energy as he continues to acclimate to his new surroundings and life. PS: Thank you Marie and staff at Grosse Ile Pet and Garden for his tuff toy. He was tougher but he loved it while it lasted. 😉🐾
