This past week and a half - two weeks has been absolutely insane as far as busy, contractors coming in, doctors appointments, my husband flying home and finding out the surprise there’s just been a lot.

 Things should be starting to get back to normal after tomorrow, so I will be starting to post more videos and updates on the puppies who are still here as well as obviously still working on some training tips for our subscriber side

I don’t look at puppy placement as a transaction. I look at it as a co-parenting relationship. ❤️

When one of our puppies leaves my home, my responsibility to that puppy doesn’t suddenly end.

I’m here for the questions. The weird texts at 10 PM. The “is this normal?” messages. Training struggles. Feeding questions. Health concerns. The victories, the frustrations, and everything in between.

I genuinely WANT our families to reach out to me. I pride myself on being a breeder who remains involved and available throughout the lifetime of the dogs I produce.

But there’s another side to that relationship that I think is equally important to talk about.

Support only works when there is follow-through.

If you continuously ask the same questions but disregard the answers…
If every recommendation is questioned, but nothing different is implemented…
If training isn’t being done consistently, but the puppy is being blamed for behaving like an untrained puppy…

Those things matter to me.

Because ultimately, my responsibility is to the puppy first.

Every puppy I produce deserves the best possible opportunity to become a stable, confident, well-mannered adult—and that requires commitment from BOTH sides of this relationship.

As our program has grown, I’ve gotten much better at recognizing certain red flags earlier. And I’ve also gotten much more comfortable saying no when something doesn’t feel right.

Not everyone who wants one of our puppies will receive one.

That isn’t arrogance. It isn’t personal. And it certainly isn’t about whether someone can afford the puppy.

It’s about whether I believe the relationship between the family, the puppy, and our program is going to be successful long-term.

I will advocate fiercely for our families. I will answer questions. I will troubleshoot. I will educate. I will celebrate your dog with you for the rest of their life.

But I will advocate for my puppies even harder.

They don’t get to choose where they go.

I do. And I take that responsibility incredibly seriously. 🖤

🚨 ERF EMERGENCY CASE: ISENHOWER 🚨

Yesterday morning started like any other morning for 2-year-old Isenhower and his Doberman sister. They were let outside together for their normal morning routine while their family got their day started.

At some point while the two dogs were playing and wrestling, the clasp securing Isenhower’s tie-out came unhooked from his collar.

No one knew.

When his family went outside to bring the dogs back in, Isenhower was nowhere to be found. His tie-out was stretched toward the back of the property, and they immediately began searching and calling for him.

Then they saw their neighbor outside with Isenhower.

Sometime around 7:57 AM, something appears to have caught his attention and he darted into the roadway.

Isenhower was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle did not stop.

In one completely ordinary morning, one failed clasp and a matter of seconds turned this family’s world upside down.

And that is something I really want to emphasize as we share his story: this was an accident.

It would be easy to look at a story involving a dog being hit by a car and immediately ask what someone should have done differently. But Isenhower was outside at his own home, secured as he normally was, playing with his sister. His family had no reason to believe that morning would be any different.

Sometimes terrible things happen despite our best efforts.

Thankfully, Isenhower survived. But he suffered a broken pelvis that requires surgical repair, and time matters.

His family has already stepped up tremendously. They paid approximately $720 to initially stabilize him and get him transferred to the appropriate hospital, followed by another $2,100 toward his care.

His current minimum estimate is $6,183.63, and the goal is to get his surgery moving forward as soon as possible—hopefully this evening—to give this sweet boy the strongest prognosis possible.

The Ember Reign Foundation is committing a $2,500 Compassion Grant toward Isenhower’s care. Now we are asking our community to help us close as much of the remaining gap as possible.

I am actively putting together his full ERF campaign now, but you do not have to wait for the campaign to go live to help him. If Isenhower’s story compels you and you would like to contribute, you can make a one-time donation to ERF now, and those funds will go toward helping us get this boy the surgery he needs.

No family wakes up expecting an emergency like this.

No one expects a clasp to fail.

And no one expects that within seconds, their healthy two-year-old dog will suddenly need thousands of dollars in emergency orthopedic care.

But this is exactly why Ember Reign Foundation exists.

To step into that horrible space between “we can save him” and “we have to find the money to save him.”

Isenhower has already fought through the hardest part.

A Crowned Champion isn’t simply a puppy who stays with us longer for training. It is a puppy personally selected by us as the strongest overall candidate from the litter—the puppy who best represents the qualities we prioritize within our breeding program, including temperament, confidence, structure, intelligence, trainability, and overall potential.

For families who choose this program, we make the selection for you, while taking your gender preference into consideration. Rather than bringing your puppy home at 8, 12, or 16 weeks, your Crowned Champion remains with us for their first year of life.

During that year, we raise, develop, socialize, and extensively train your puppy through our structured training phases—from foundational manners and obedience to advanced, reliable off-leash work in real-world environments.

Families may also choose our Crowned Champion program with protection foundation, where appropriate, focusing on controlled drive development, confidence under pressure, alert behaviors, and protection foundations without compromising the stable temperament we expect from our Dobermans.

Essentially, this program is designed for the family who wants the best candidate we can identify from a litter, raised and developed by us through that critical first year, and delivered as a polished, confident, highly trained young Doberman rather than a blank-slate puppy.

Because of the amount of individual time and development involved, we accept a maximum of two Crowned Champion puppies per year.

Timeline for Pepper’s puppies:

Due date: 9/16

Ear crop with Midgarden: 11/5 (7 weeks old)

There will be no 12 week pick up option for this litter due to us relocating - I’m only staying until November to allow the puppies an ear crop with Dr Midgarden and avoid a price increase for those who weren’t anticipating that for this litter

Pick up will be 11/11/26 no exceptions due to relocation timeline

Therefore if you’re on the list and interested in this litter please plan accordingly ❤️

There’s possibly a Crown Champion coming from this litter but waiting on confirmation. That will be our final Crown Champion for the next 12 mos.

A Queen at rest. 👑🖤

There’s something I love so much about this photograph of Zarrah. No grand pose, no need to command the camera—just our girl stretched out in the sunshine, completely content, taking in everything happening around her.

At this stage of life, she’s earned the right to sit back and supervise. 😂

The fallen trees, the water, the greenery… this little spot gave the session such a different feel from the bridge, and Savannah captured Zarrah exactly as she is in so many of our everyday moments: relaxed, observant, beautiful and seemingly unbothered.

Seemingly being the important word.

Because while the Queen may be resting, make no mistake—if someone gets out of line, Zarrah will absolutely clock back in and remind everyone exactly who runs this kingdom. 😂👑

Some things soften with age.

Her authority was apparently not one of them.
