What Does “Supreme” Alfalfa Really Mean?
Alfalfa quality is graded as Supreme, Premium, Good, Fair, or Utility, based on both physical appearance and lab-tested nutritional values. We rely on Relative Forage Quality (RFQ) — a modern, accurate measure that accounts for digestibility, intake potential, and total nutrients.
Alfalfa Grade Standards (based on RFQ):
• Supreme: RFQ over 180
• Premium: RFQ 165–180
• Good: RFQ 150–165
• Fair: RFQ 130–150
• Utility: RFQ under 130
Other quality indicators include:
• High leaf content
• Fine stems
• Bright green color
• High protein with balanced fiber levels
We test every load of hay we sell, and all the alfalfa we offer consistently meets Supreme standards. No guesswork, just verified nutrition you can count on.
